This looks like a more modern, taller, and glass-built version of 432 Park Ave in NYC.

True. But then again, everything with a square footprint and a slim body does

Not exactly. Not all buildings have that specific technical floor design. + They're on about the same spot as on 432 Park Ave.

It reminds me of a squarish grollo tower

i really like the renders of this project, i hope it will be built like that. im not sure if dubai needs another "city centre" like this one ( again with fountains , mall , tall tower ) on normal days, but i think for the expo 2020 it will be really good to have this new development because i remember when i was in dubai - the downtown was already pretty crowded and at the expo there will be a lot more visitors.

I like this, allthough it won't be the tallest building in the world, it will still have the highest observatory.

It will differ from the others like BK and KT where you can only get about 2/3 as high up as the actual height of the building.
I reallly hope this gets built.

Why are we obsessing over dancing fountains, we should be talking about the 711 meter tower and all the others in the masterplan.

What a nothing design. I would much prefer One Dubai to Dubai One.

We can't tell wether the renderings are anywhere near the final design or not. The only thing I'd count on are the sleek proportions.

Don't take the design so serious. It will not be final. I expect a redesign or at least an improved design at CityScape Dubai 2015. The current one just shows in which style it tends to. We know, that it will be a minimalistic, elegant design and that the tower is not planned to be characterized by setbacks. ( like BK). I believe, the final design will look similar to a larger version of the International Commerce Center in Hong Kong or like a larger version of 106 Tower in Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum clearly states above that the dancing fountains will be the highest worldwide reaching 442m vertically!

https://www.facebook.com/HHSheikhMohammed
That has to be a "shot" height, not the height of a continuous spout, I hope. With enough compressed gas, they could probably send a blob of water to a height reaching 442 metres every now and then, but a steady stream would quite literally require a hydroelectric power plant in reverse, and be a tremendous waste of electricity.

was renamed Nakheel tower and moved to a location close to the current burj 2020 plot. It started construction, but went on hold with the financial crisis. The foundation started work, so you can see the enormous footprint on google earth quite well. If it ever restarts construction we would immediately know, since currently no cranes are present anymore.
