Mass Transit

I am having trouble getting my sims to use my subway system, or any mass transit system I put in. Any suggestions, or tips would be appreciated.

Here's a tip for buses.

Sims will not walk further than nine grid squares to get to a bus stop. Anything longer and they will drive. Sims will also never travel backwards (away from their destination) to use a stop, although they have been known to take some wacky routes to get there (I had a MySim once who went all the way around town to get a few blocks down the same street).

in my case is the opposite, my sometimes my roads system gets under used and my mass transit system is get congestinated.

what I do is place bus stops on strategical places like in avenues and busy roads, and on residencial areas one bus stop with a space of 2 blocks between the stops - (My blocks are usually 6 to 8 per 6 to 8.

my subaway and specially suburban trains are always full, as I place them on the exits/entrances of the busiest roads, because then it won't change the Sim route, he/she will simple leave the car and use the system.

Does anyone know of any cheats that will get rid of the long commuter times? I have every mode of transport possible by some buildings, plus they are surrounded with commercial and yet they are still being abandonded, so frustration has kicked in and I now want a cheat :o)

I have taxi stands. I find that they are very helpful. They are on the road itself so it doesnt take up space. Makes your city look like NYC.
