Tour
'HEKLA'

Architect: Jean NOUVEL

Quote:
French 'Starchitect' Jean Nouvel has been chosen today to design a tower in the La Défense business district of Paris. The skyscraper will be located near the Rose de Cherbourg area & will be a premiere for Nouvel in the french financial district as he had previously failed to make two very ambitious projects (Tour SANS FIN/Tour SIGNAL) come true, respectively in 2000 & 2010.

The architect said that the first renderings of the project will be released publicly next september.

MORE TO COME IN 3 MONTHS THEN...

But base is not particularly large. This is a very narrow tower.

Not so narrow in fact. Here there is a picture of what she could be.

Officially, it's not a the final project but just an exemple of how she could look.

But, there are people in this forum who think that it could be the final project.

Normally we should know it during september...

Personally, if this model is the final projet, I will be happy

I quite like it actually, it's pretty original for a Nouvel design...

i respect your point of view, but its only your opinion.
it's typical Nouvel architecture, and Nouvel architecture is very controversial.
i am shure the cladding will be fabulous.but its too early.
ok. cesar pelli's works have more success but i don't like it because too conservative and commonplace.

On renders, it does look interesting. If ever built, I hope they choose good materials, if not could end up being a major flop.

I don't like it. Too messy and will ruin Paris' more classy look. This tower is begging for attention rather than blending into the cityscape. Paris can do better.

I'm already in love with this tower. Beautiful, Nouvel has done a good job this time.

Absolutely beautiful!

Is that on the location where his former Tour Signal was supposed to be?

My jury has insufficient evidence to deliberate.

Nouvel, send me your 3D model to study.

I'm surprised by how little echo of this can be found in the news. I remember the (cancelled) Signal project, which was heavily commented including in national news. Ah well, I guess it's because it's only the very beginning of the project.

It's very ambitious and unconventional for Paris, I'm pretty sure a lot of people will complain of the current design if it stays.

I personally think it's a nice design, spectacular even. Plus, the selected location is perfect and will compliment the skyline greatly. I live not far from La Defense, and I walk past the area several times a month so I can imagine how this would look like in reality.
