I am resident of newest neighbourhood of Bukit Batok West. I am waiting for new bus services. SMRT 944 is really not serving the residents including me, who have moved in precincts of West Ridges, West Crest and West Valley.

Anyone knows anything about new service 991?

New bus service 991 and amendment to bus service 941.

“To cater to new housing developments in Bukit Batok West, a new bus service – Service 991 – will begin operations on Sunday, 8 July 2018, while existing feeder Service 941 will be concurrently amended.”

991 connects the new residential developments to Bukit Batok MRT Station.

When the new roads are completed and open to traffic, bus service 991 will be extended to Bukit Gombak MRT Station and Choa Chu Kang MRT Station, and incorporate the route of bus service 308 along the way.

As a result, bus service 308 will cease to operate after bus service 991 is extended to Choa Chu Kang.

But for now, bus service 308 will continue to operate.

Bus service 941 on the other hand will undergo a revolutionary change. Currently, the bus service makes a loop around Bukit Batok West Avenue 8.

From 8 July 2018, bus service 941 will ply Bukit Batok West Avenue 8 in both directions and enter the new residential area at Bukit Batok West. The objective is to connect the new residential area to the community amenities at Bukit Batok West Avenue 8.

The writer feels that this is a very bold move, as this is a revolutionary change to the routing of bus service 941, yet at the same time it reduces the travelling time for those taking bus service 941 from Bukit Batok Bus Interchange to the area around Bukit Batok Secondary School.

Overall, I support this change, which would enhance the public transport connectivity in Bukit Batok West.

Taking this conversation here:

Gemilang Coachworks (from whom the MAN buses are sourced) is a builder, they buy raw bus chassis and then build them into a proper bus.

Given local resources we could do the same things on our own.

Technically Singapore already has our own coachworks but they do not do public buses due to the erratic behaviour of the market here.

most of the tourist and coach buses are already from that brand, SC Auto. unless LTA introduce funds for them R&D building public buses, they would probably never do public buses
