Yeah, London cannot be spoilt any more than that, but I'm sure eventually many people will like this clumsy fatso. It should look just fun after a couple of decades.

My first view of 20 Fenchurch Street aka 'The Walkie-Talkie' as seen from the Waterloo Bridge on Saturday 26th November 2016.

It looks good on the skyline from there.

London Just Broke a Property Price-Tag Record

27 July 2017, 09:50 GMT+1

Another part of London’s skyline has been snapped up by an Asian buyer.

Land Securities Group Plc and Canary Wharf Group Plc agreed to sell the skyscraper known as the Walkie Talkie to Hong Kong-based LKK Health Products Group Ltd. for 1.28 billion pounds ($1.7 billion), according to a statement Thursday.

The price, a record for a single U.K. property, is remarkable given that the building will face ongoing maintenance costs, JPMorgan Chase & Co. analysts including Tim Leckie wrote in a client note. LKK, which sells Chinese herbal medicines, paid a 13 percent premium to book value for the property even as Land Securities’s shares trade at a 26 percent discount, he said.

Asian investors have poured into London’s office market in the year since the Brexit vote, capitalizing on the weak pound to buy towers for record-high prices. Hong Kong real estate developer C C Land Holdings paid 1.15 billion pounds for the Cheesegrater tower in May.

Is it an unpopular opinion to actually like the unique shape of 20 Fenchurch on this forum? I will not argue that it is beautiful but I feel that it is underrated as something novel - part of London's history of putting up less-than-great buildings like Trellick Tower but still celebrating them.
