Will they be demolishing the current Printworks, or keep it with minor changes?

Some gems in there, the tallest tower isn't anything special but the low rise buildings are looking good. I really like this area and it has great potential.

Why does the Printworks need repurposing? The current success of it has been that it isn't some kind of bland sterile hipster joint but rough and overgrown like Berlin's Berghain or OHM.

Must everything fun and different in London be sanitised to f*ck nowadays?

Historic England blasts tower heights in Allies and Morrison’s Canada Water scheme

Historic England has raised fears that a cluster of skyscrapers in Allies and Morrison’s masterplan for Canada Water will have a ‘profound and far-reaching’ impact on London’s skyline

Bang in the middle of the Greenwich Park to St Paul's sightline- unlikely to happen now.

Canada water is to the right of St Paul's from Greenwich. They have been working on this masterplan at a glacial pace so you'd think the first thing they would work out is the main site constraint to the whole masterplan.

Not the bit where these towers are going; right at the north-east end of Greenland Dock (line 5A.2).

These are all the contentious cumulative views. I don't think the Greenwich one is the worst (Convoys Wharf annoyingly blocks the Shard) but the Tower Bridge views are not great.

Haha, so no we're worried about disrupting a view of a faux bridge that's already got building in it. Tower Bridge is a fantastic icon of London but good god it doesn't need protecting.
It's ironic that the Tower Bridge is a gateway, but the idiots at HE don't want it to actually lead anywhere. Lets hope they are ignored as they have been before.

Notice how the approved Sellar tower (outlined in white) is already the "worst" for ruining these views. HE continually seems to have these memory lapses for already approved or built schemes.

Allies and Morrison slashes tower heights on Canada Water scheme
Architects Journal
1 November 2018
Quote:
Allies and Morrison has cut back tower heights across its £4 billion Canada Water masterplan after objections from Historic England

The heritage body said the cluster of skyscrapers in the 3,000-home development would have a ‘profound and far-reaching’ impact on the city and would block views of landmark buildings.

In response, developer British Land has amended its application by reducing the heights of buildings across the development, including cutting back the tallest tower by 24 metres, from 162m to 138m.

A hybrid application for the 21ha site was submitted to Southwark Council in May, with outline proposals for 40 new buildings, including three clusters of high-rise towers and a new town centre ‘the size of Leicester Square’.

But Historic England argued the seven tall buildings would harm views of some of the capital’s most famous landmarks. The impact on Tower Bridge would be ‘particularly harmful’, the body argued, as it would block part of its silhouette in views along London Bridge.

Despite all of this, it's since to see a guide which breaks down a planning application for those that aren't like us.

Outline proposals for the Canada Water masterplan, and detailed plans for plots A1, A2 and K1, are recommended for approval.

To be decided next Wednesday.

Yes it does.

Why do you hate old London so much?

You cannot build mediocre if not ugly skyscrapers everywhere, do you want to live in a dystopian city like in China?

Keep old London free of skyscrapers and build skyscrapers together to have a massive skyline.

Isle of dogs, greenwhich peninsula are the places for them.
