The one and only rail system I've been outside Spain . I've been on line A from Jardin Botanique to Hôtel de Ville (the 1 on the map). Also, I think my strong commitment against rare diseases has kept me reading Dravemont as Dravetmont.

The yellow train(photo just above) traject is not precisely in Bordeaux region.
More near Mediterranean Sea, in East Pyrenees Mountain.

The average weekday transit on Bordeaux tram is little more than 300 000.
See : quite never, cars run on trams tracks.
Bordeaux knews before trams quite the worst traffic jams in all french cities (except Paris region)

Trams vehicles are 33 m (five sections) or 44 m (seven sections) long.

Several new extensions were opened last year:
24 January: Line A from Mérignac Centre to Le Hailland Rostand, and line C from Berges du Lac to Parc des Expositions.
6 March: Line C from Bègles Terres Neuves to Lycée Václav Havel.
22 June: Line B, new branch from Bougnard to France Alouette.

Currently U/C is the Tram-train du Médoc, which at first will be operated as a line C branch from Cracovie to Gare de Blanquefort. A new line D is planned (Already U/C?) from Quinconces to Cantinolle.

Bordeaux is truly amazing. As soon as they open the Cité du vin, I'm gonna pay a visit.

Line C was extended today from Cracovie to Gare de Blanquefort:

New section runs mostly alongside an existing railway, but is not a tram-train:

What's mass transit like in Bordeaux? I find it impressive that a country as centralized as France managed to build several metro and tram systems for it's provincial cities.

It's due to special tax, reserved for public transports investments, called "Versement Transport" :

All firms (industrial, commercial, financial, services) and administrations with 9 or more salaried people pay each month to the LOCAL Transit Authority between 1,2 et 2,0 % of wages amount.
In Paris region ("Ile de France") this tax rate is so high as 2,6 %

In Lyon Métropole, where I live (1 400 000 inhabitants), due to this tax,
the local Transit Authority (called SYTRAL) receives more than 23 000 000 € each month, more than 280 M€ each year
