the stations are wonderful, ones of the best i've ever seen, espesialy the blue light is sooo nice, and the trains of the L4 are very fine, grey with those cute signs red and orange on the side.

It more and more seems to me that Santiago belongs to the world's most beautiful systems, along with Stockholm, Moscow, Montréal, Washington, Athens, Paris, St Petersburg, Prague etc.

BTW strange that it's often the Blue lines that are the best... True for Stockholm, Montréal, and obviously for Santiago as well...

Where was the joke? The part I stated the system was clean, attractive and modern? Or that the rolling stock needed to be updated? It seems the only joke here is you.

Excellent photos Oscar. The design of line 4 emphasizes by on the others of the world when incorporating bold mixtures of light and architecture of first level ordered by Metro S.A. to diverse consulting companies. And thus, without leaving of side the culture and the estetic for its users the Santiago's subway grows to become but the long one of latinoamerica. Greetings from the south of the world in Chile.

The right answer would be "I don't think it's funny at all"
You should chill out my friend (i was going to write "you should Chile out my friend" but you wouldn't find that funny either...)
That was supposed to be a joke...don't know why you misunderstood me
Anyway... this metro system is really nice

Well, I am actually chilled out and against anyone . I just find this kind of jokes boring. I think you should be more creative, original.

And that's exactly how it is. It's by far the most modern Metro I've ever visited. And it's being extended for 4 kms eastwards (L1), 13,5 kms to the southwest (L5), 7,7 kms in the south (L4A) and 2,5 kms to the north (L2).
The first two extensions mentioned will take some years (3 years) to be built while the other two will already be inaugurated this year.

Cheers!

ohh, i hadn't seen this thread before. nice pics. i think the santiago metro is by far the nicest in latin america, especially the newer stations. they've taken the extra effort to make the stations aesthetically pleasing, which not all metro systems do. looking forward to seeing what the new stations of the expanded Line 1 and Line 5 (due to be completed by 2009) look like.

more pics can be found on the following threads:

Lines 1 and 2
