I do like the design. I know glossy glassy designs may be trendier but I like the fact that things are done a bit different in Kenya. And for a good reason I guess : heat.

I think this building will be way more pleasant once built. Renders rarely pays justice to concrete structures.

Don't think heat is a determining factor, especially when the hottest it gets in Nairobi/The highlands is relatively mild (bordering on temperate). Probably cost might be the issue?

Hehe, it does. Imperial headquarters of star system c137. I can already hear the Vader theme playing. Almost as fun as the building behind pinnacle that looks like a transformer robot (in disguise of course)

You're literally reading my mind. I think the building you're talking about is called Mwalimu Sacco Towers.

WHEN THE ALIENS COME, IT SHALL RISE...

This can actually look good if they skip the teracotta, like the pan african building in Westi. Mwalimu sacco turned out better than renders though walikula pesa ya spire.

That building looks terrible. They are better off with a rectangle and French’s style windows. Simple plain but better than this crap design trying to resemble artistic.

I like the building... it's actually an african banking industry architecture... look at most west african banks HQs... something close to that.. i think it's great and iconic..

Refined design now has glass

It seems the architects working for TDB have been reading the comments on Skyscrapercity. They've added some glass elements and retained some concrete sections.

I'd say concrete underlines their solid corporate operations. Of course, glass si mbaya pia.

What you all think? Looks better?

Keep the concrete spire so that it gives a dancing light show.

But they gotta ditch the rest of the concerete and instead go with an Exposed Structural Steel Facade like the example below. This will go prefectly with the glass and they can even greenifty the building like the renders.

Source of the image above

All that concrete facade makes it look like it came from the 60s...

That much concrete was in the brutalist deasign. We are now in post modern era. These things make no much sense to me but they affect design of buildings and infrastructure.

Concrete is better than exposed steel because once the steel begins to rust the whole structure will turn an ugly shade of brown!

Maintenance is a problem in this country. They do a lot of maintenance on the San Francisco Bay Bridge with some spray to make it look good but in this country maintenance is overlooked
