Ah. Well I've seen the original Little Dessert Shop as a business for sale online. I know they're mostly franchises now so maybe they're just franchising out their original restaurant. Icestone Gelato is also to let.

Oh dear. Surely this will mean further delays for the Civic hall?

It's already at £38m. £60m would have paid for the First Direct Arena in Leeds - a 13.7k capacity arena! If we'd known it would have cost £38m I really think the best option would have been to retain it as-is and build a new arena elsewhere.

Nice. If I was them I would replace it with a Morrisons supermarket. Need to get some people into this half of town. But it sounds like they'll just replace it with a spruced up market.

The new LGBT club at Westside concerns me, because of this quote from them:

Quote:
It will be an over-18s venue, requesting all alternative persons to dress appropriately on arrival as we have changing rooms inside; although we accept that the law now accommodates for sexually diverse groups, we are sensible when it comes to the protection of children and moral decency. There will be no windows viewing into the building.
I guess it depends what they mean by "alternative" and "appropriate".

I imagine that is a vague post towards the Leather Daddies ETC.
I do find it slightly off when I see people going to JOCK in Birmingham/Manc when they're walking down normal streets in outfits which would constitute indecent exposure.

I suppose. As long as they don't mean trans people and such.

Went up Hurst Street on Saturday actually, suprised to see the shops around there, the shop displays were more risque than the actual patrons. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The quote is probably aimed at some medieval councillors supporting the protestors at Anderson park school. Putting explicit mention of children not seeing people dressed in a particular way makes it more likely they won't raise an objection maybe?

Isn't this in wolves not Bham so Anderton Park School is irrelevant to a large degree.

All our past LGBT clubs have been the setting for stabbings and violence so there's certainly issues for them to resolve. That's why this is going to be a private members' club.

Ground floor will have three shops and a restaurant (specifically not a takeaway).

Former Blunt's Shoes.

I actually posted this a while back (March 2018!), surprised it's took this long to be approved.

Ground has just been broken for a £12m casino at Dudley’s Castlegate Park.

Ballard Casinos is moving its operations from Castle Hill in the town on to what was the penultimate plot at Castlegate awaiting development.

Bulleys negotiated the sale of the site on behalf of owners Homes England. It was on the market with an asking price of more than £300,000.

Developer Adrian Ballard, who also owns the Casino 36 in Wolverhampton, called in architect Colin Proctor of Development Project Services to work on the scheme.

Bulleys partner Noel Muscutt managed the casino deal, and it follows the opening of a Greene King “Hungry Horse” pub, a brand of Costa Coffee and a KFC outlet over the last few years on land owned by Homes England and developed by Stoford.

These have already created around 80 jobs.

Bulleys acted for land owner Homes England on these deals too.

Muscutt says the latest developments underline Castlegate’s increasing popularity as a leisure and dining destination, with the site’s Showcase cinema and restaurants such as Chiquito, Harvester and Frankie & Benny’s, a ten-pin bowling alley as well as a Premier Inn hotel.

“Stoford and Homes England clearly showed great foresight in their development of restaurant and pub facilities at Castlegate, which has become an increasingly popular leisure destination for families across the Dudley area and further afield.

“The new casino will only add to the attraction of Castlegate, which is clearly seen as site of excellent investment opportunity and we are delighted to have done our part in securing the sale of what will clearly be a very popular destination.”
