What I'd really like to see is how the project is integrated with the North Star Rail platform.
In the second rendering from the previous page, you can see an open staircase going down to the platform level, possibly indicating future access to the platform.

More information on this project thanks to the awesome site The Development Tracker. More pics of the proposal plus a lot more information - including a "grand staircase" that someone above mentioned.

The Development Tracker is a phenomenal website.

The Development Tracker does not cite their sources, but all of their info seems to be plucked straight out of this Business Journals article:

Yeah it's a great collection of highlighting the development info from BizJournals.

You should add it to the THREAD FINDER Development Tracker section.

Certainly looks tall in this area. The neighborhood group may start a fight over this one

Could be. Although, if it's all about skyline views, it doesn't seem like many of the North Loop units who have a view right now will lose it. Maybe the Pohlads will gripe that people will peer down to free baseball games? I lightly jest.

I count 39 floors and 442' for the residential tower, and 17 floors and 236' for the office tower. The measurements that they are providing for height are based off of the curb level of the 5th street overpass, not the actual grade on the site. The plaza level is three floors and 31' above grade.

Some of the elevations in the packet do not show the portion of the building below the bridge. I think this elevation conveys the most complete picture:

Judging from some of the comments on North Loop Neighborhood Association's FB page, there will definitely be a fight.

Some of these people are clueless. Do they realize they are living in a growing city; not only that, but in a growing neighborhood that literally borders a downtown area that is also experiencing growth? I honestly wonder how they make it through the day.

Melissa Wagner Mixed feeling, there goes my view to downtown from the Ford Center.

Karen Herrmann Bahl It’s too tall for the neighborhood. It’ll look out of place!

Lynn Marie Anderson There better be 500+ parking spots for the residents and office workers!

Jenny Zhang That looks totally out of place ... I like that one they built for amazon, this one is so new and shiny, all glass and steel, it’s really better suited for a downtown skyscraper than a north loop building.

No one promised them a view or only buildings they find appealing.

Lucky for Lynn they are planning 590 parking spots. Seems like a lot but I guess if you assume a chunk are for the office portion and possibly some public parking its going to be around 1 spot per unit.

The property summery on the Hennepin County website lists WSP Union Plaza LLC of Excelsior, MN as the owner of this land. Back in 2012 a subsidiary of Hines bought this lot, that must be the subsidiary I'm guessing.

The taxpayer is listed now as Hines North Loop Green LLC.

http://apps.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/PIA...=2202924131162

The Strib article stated Hines was going to meet with a neighborhood group, along with the City of Minneapolis. I wonder if that what group within the city that would have been... I checked the COW, and unless I missed it, there was nothing from Hines there.

It's quite literally on this evening's CoW agenda: http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/meet...w/WCMSP-219897

Well, that would be why! The article last week said that week they were meeting with the city and the neighborhood last week...

It looks a lot like something you see in the west loop of Chicago, this is fantastic. I don't think I've seen something as ambitious or creative as this in Minneapolis for a while. This is exactly what the core/north loop really needs to create a better urban environment. H

I don't like the level were the "Bridge" is supposed to be....it looks to diminish the appearance of height a bit!

I completely disagree with you. I think the bridge is one of the unique design aspects that separates this from every other project going on here right now. If you take the bridge away I think it diminishes some of the appeal of this project.

OK...Respectfully, disagree. Of course, like I said a few days ago, just top off the office space with the apartment tower!!

I like the bridge, it's not something we have much of in this town (thinking outside the box) and might make some others in the future re-imagine how they might want to do something.
