Eventually they will need to extend the Yonge subway line north to RichmondHill and beyond but its a damn good start.

Those MultiRide and OneRide machines are so much better than anything the TTC or MT has.

Not much communter in riding
But modern and great of convenience at town
TTC would be needing to up-grade and improve

Awesome thread. I've been quite curious as to how the interior of the buses look. It's very cool that they would have onboard WiFi and the ticket dispensing shelters are very nice. . Definitely a step in the right direction for surburbia.

Skybean, I have riden on them several times and I must say that the interiors are crisp and clean, and the seats face forwards and back. The seat are sort of like the Go Train, and the last row of seats have a table.

Alameda County in California also has these new Van Hool buses. They're awesome and a fresh addition to the bland North American designs. I live in the Silicon Valley and whenever I visit people in Alameda county I swear I would ride the bus if they had them where I live

TORONTO | Buses

Ok one of Toronto's suburbs has invested in a new bus network. When I say very Euro I am talking about the buses themselves. Anyway I dont feel like giving to much backround info so this York Region, north of Toronto. I guess I should mention this is the first step to eventually getting light rail also. Anyway take a trip on VIVA.

Pics by Wyliepoon, commentary isnt mine either.

Various views of the buses on the Yonge Street route.
Note the lack of passengers in some pics is due to us taking pics at the last stop on the line. Buses where actually full, up till the
end of the line.

Infomation guides where on hand to help new commuters figure out the automated ticket system.

A nice comfy place to lean.

Views of the suburbs from the bus, including VIVA stations.
WARNING, THESE PICTURES CONTAIN SPRAWL.

Bernard Ave Terminal. End of the line for now.

Yes Bernard Ave Terminal is located in a strip mall. You can take the bus to the power centre. Hows that for smart growth.

More views of the suburbs from the bus.

Downtown Richmond Hill.

Back to suburban sprawl.

Richmond Hill Centre Station. The main transfer station for VIVA bus routes, and local bus routes. Various views of the station.

Time to transfer to the Purple route, to York University.

Smaller regular length buses on the Purple route.

Various views of the Purple route buses.

Highway 7 twords York University.

Various views from the bus.

Entering City of Toronto City Limits, and York University.

York University Station.

Back to the buses.

To very nice VIVA bus drivers.
