I think its a shame that Haddon tower is going, there used to be a couple more on the same side of the road but back towards Holloway Circus, will the Atwood project replace this tower with anything of similar height in their project, was that Asda tower going to be around here?

The Asda tower will be 50% taller than Haddon, on the same site, if it goes ahead Elizabeth

I thought we were getting the bland low rise option. Is there still hope for the higher tower?

The low rise is on the other side of the road, where St Luke's Church is...

Hey i went up Haddon tower yesturday and i'd really recomend it... the art gallery is open until the end of this weekend. The building is due to be demolished in October the very helpful organisers told me.

Not so interested in the art personally (I normaly am) as it was rather overshadowed by:

1) My interest in the state of the building - awful yet there are people are still living in it, it's really shocking because the building is in such an advanced state of decay. Nothing intrinsically wrong with the structure that i could see really though it's just very dated and a nasty place... could easily have had a makeover but i'm glad they are demolishing it. I don't know if there are any stuctural probs but the balconeys are horrid and very windy and although it's double glazed the cold wind still comes in the flats.

2) Great Views over the city - somebody please go and take a camera. I haven't got one and my girlfriend didn't have hers with her. Several different views avaliable. You get the impression that Brum has 3 or 4 clusters of towers from there: "5ways" which looks fantastic, "Broad st & city", "Holloway Circus" & "Rotunda and Eastside"

3) Park Central - i'm doing a project on this and this is the only place u can see the whole scheme in one. Wow.. it's huge and looks much further progressed from up there than at ground level cause you can see that 1/3 is done, 1/3 is underconstruction and quite advanced with 1/3 to start.

Everybody from this site should go you'd all love it..

Thanks for the info Engels.Personally,I'm always sad to see towers (any) disappear but if we do get the proposed tower in its place then that will be a sound investment.
