Worst mid sized downtowns: Fresno, Sacramento, Oakland.

Honorable mention (not really mid sized) San Jose.

Oakland and San Jose are on a similar scale.

One heads the West Bay and one heads the South Bay. (None of this is related to the local city limits.)
