Northern California has always been associated with hippies and their causes. Since they've been priced out of the Bay Area they're now dispersed along Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and of course NorCal (heard of Humboldt County? )

I always get a kick about our ex-governor Reagan's description of the hippies in Haight-Ashbury:

They dressed liked Tarzan, had hair like Jane, and smelled like cheetah.

Oregon for sure! I lived in Oregon before. I also have a second home there. I seen way too many hippies in Oregon than anywhere I been to.

GET A JOB HIPPIES!

I'd say Oregon has got the hippie population. Also San Fran and Northern California full of hippies... I got some great photos showing hippies too. I'll post two funny ones below.

A typical Oregon hippie. Took this picture during the...pride...festival.... I didn't honestly mean to go during that time... I had no idea thats when it was happening... but yeah, a TON of hippies there during that time. Taken in Portland, OR.

This last image below was taken in the small town of Kalama, Washington. I found it humorous.

To see these pictures and more, be sure to visit the AJM STUDIOS Northwest Photo Journey in it's entirety on my site. Lots of pictures listed by city all across the Northwest and Alaska. More being added all the time.

Oregon? Ha! San Francosco is a city of 750k hippies; Berkeley another 100k. Then Santa Cruz, San Luis Obispo, Venice Beach, a fair amount of Santa Barbara and every place between the Bay Area and Oregon. Ever heard of a lil place called Humboldt County?!

I know Cali has more, but as a percentage I'd say Oregon. But if we divided Cali into NorCal and SoCal, I'd say Oregon and NorCal would be pretty even percentage wise.

I voted for Oregon. I believe a lot of the hippies where I live in CA either left or "grew up."

Some of the earliest LSD enhanced hippie music and light shows actually happened at the Red Dog Saloon in Virginia City, Nevada in 1965. They called it the "Red Dog Experience". At the end of that summer they took their new experience to San Francisco and the rest is history.

But I wouldn't call Nevada a hippie state.

The hippies all moved up to Oregon after the 60s ended.

I voted for Oregon, but my neighborhood is full of "hippies". Actually, now that I think about it, I should've just voted for Colorado in the first place. They're everywhere!

New Mexico has a fair amount of hippies, but I went with the flow and voted for Oregon.

If we are talking per capita, it's gotta be Alaska.
