At least we got The Cube Which looks better in person than in that render.

This is quite sickening tbh and I am hoping that the tower Birmingham has mentioned pulls off to keep my faith in us still being able to produce higher heights.

I'm not that fussed on height capping - if we ever get the Richardson's one under way over the road (and Travelodge demolished) that would make Broad St better. In 100m+ height terms I'd prefer if we had one in Eastside instead.

Can't see any towers going in until some rapid transit is put in down Broad Street.

Well, if they start building a tower tomorrow, should be finished in 3 years time, by which point there should be a metro line to Five Ways!

Bit of a shame after the 56 storeys we were expecting... with a hotel operator signed up didn't they say? I used to think just like joshwebb wanting higher and higher buildings, but I think i'd rather have the quality of eleven brindleyplace instead of constant reductions

I know it's not 200m. But I think we would all be very happy to see 2 cores rising here adding not only density to the area but bringing in more city center residents and another 4 star hotel.

Yes it may not be a skyscraper, but it's still a very valuable development and give us 2 much needed buildings.

I have no doubt the new design will be good, they used Aedas last time round so they aren't shying away of getting a good looking scheme.

Might need a new thread.

http://www.regalprop.com/#the-bank

The noises I am hearing make this sound quite likely to go ahead in a form similar to this.

18 storey tower, 180 bed 4 star hotel with associated conference, restaurant and bar facilities
22 storey tower containing 175 premier apartments

70m tall (hopefully) or less on the tallest element.
