Still can't believe that the opposing team had to go through the old LA Dodger clubhouse to get to the practice batting cage for all those years. This renovation was decades overdue.

I was at the game last night. The new hi def screens didn't display as they they are shown above until the 3rd inning. I don't now if it was by design or they still had some bugs to fix.

For the first 3 innings they looked like this:

Then the splendor of the new design came through finally and what a change!!!! The scoreboard becomes the second screen when displaying video or the fan cam, so if you were used to just looking to the direction of Dodger Vision, now your neck will get a nice exercise as both screens display different fan cam shots or vid, then the right one goes back to being a scoreboard.

I was late buying my tickets so I ended up at the top deck, they've made little plazas at the entrance of the reserve levels and top deck with a merchandise store at each and ticket booth...very clever...they kept the classic design in every detail. The plazas have huge bobble heads or giant retired numbers.

I noticed a few minor details unfinished, like gardening here and there (we all know that DS has probably the most greenery in the majors), very small construction details.

The wait for the concessions in the Top Deck was still quite a wait, but the attendant took it upon himself as I got to the counter to apologize and explain that they were short staffed up there and that it would get much better, and implied that things were much better at the lower levels.

When you come in and when you leave, all employees at the gates or the mini plazas greet you, or say "Thank you for coming, please come again".

The new bathrooms are huge and spacious, but I didn't hear the game being broadcast live as they were in the past, all you Dodger fans know we used to be in he bathroom doing our business and hear Vin Scully call the game as we were doing so. Maybe they still need to wire that, I don't know. No tv screens by the concessions either (Top Deck at least) but I suspect they just simply didn't have time to put them back up. I'm sure the Field, Loge and Reserve levels were better. The flashing strobe lights for home runs and at the end of a win were not used either, maybe another thing they didn't get to.

No more 76 ball on the right-field scoreboard?

That fresh white paint on the Loge Level is gorgeous and I hope they do the same with the other concourses if they haven't already.

A new post about Dodger Stadium traffic on County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky's website really buries the lead: the Department of Transportation is pro-monorail. Well, at least one guy is. Asked for a long-term solution to the perennial problem of traffic before and after Dodger games, Aram Sahakian replied "my personal recommendation would be a monorail." The rest of the post deals with the Dodger Stadium Express, the rather more quotidian bus that runs between Union Station and Chavez Ravine, and its dedicated lane on Sunset. Ridership is up on the express bus, but traffic has still been a nightmare on game days. To improve matters, Sahakian has proposed letting carpoolers use the bus lane, and using the city's newly-synced traffic lights to help out before every home game (as they did on opening day). And then we should totally build a monorail.

McCourt retained half ownership of the parking lots. It's unclear how much say he would have in the development of the lots or where the stadium would go.
