Newcastle United

Quote:
Newcastle United Football Club have announced plans for a stunning new state-of-the-art training complex as part of a multi-million pound redevelopment of the Club's existing 35-acre training ground site.

The current intention is that work will get underway in May 2015 and when complete in early 2016, the Magpies will occupy one of the finest training facilities of its kind in Europe.

While existing training pitches and a modern indoor training hall will be retained, the Club's current Training Centre building will be demolished and replaced by a much larger, high-tech structure.

It will accommodate newly-designed changing, training, rehabilitation, medical, leisure and catering facilities and will also introduce the latest aquatic technology to the site, with a 20-metre swimming pool, a hydrotherapy and fitness pool and specialist equipment to aid injury prevention and recovery.

The new construction will also create a fitness centre double the size of the Club's existing gymnasium, as well as administrative space, a presentation suite for match analysis and a new media suite.

Newcastle United director of football, Joe Kinnear, said: "This is a hugely exciting development for Newcastle United. We have one of football's great stadiums and we are delighted to now be announcing plans for a training complex which will rival any in Europe.

"Top players and top teams need top training and medical facilities. Our current training ground has served the Club very well but the new complex will give us all of the ingredients that we need to continue maintaining and enhancing the performance of elite footballers.

"It will also be an added attraction when we are looking to recruit players."

The new training complex has been designed to fit within the Club's impressive environmental policy, building on the Magpies' achievement of becoming the world's first carbon neutral football club in 2012.

The new eco-friendly building will be made from cross-laminated timber (CLT) sourced from sustainable forests and will produce its own energy from a combined heat and power (CHP) plant room.

A formal planning application is to be submitted shortly before a tender process begins.

I might be repeating myself, but it really looks Gaudi-esque. Amazing.

Do all Euro soccer training grounds have bedrooms for the players? Why?

These are for the clubs, which is different from a franchise in the US. Imagine if a baseball club like the Texas Rangers had all of their minor league teams in one facility, including high school prospects. Just not the way things are done here. Even with Baseball clubs, the minor league teams are spread out throughout the region and the country.

I don't think it's very common in England, although some of the larger clubs may have accommodation at their training grounds for players to use whenever they need it. I'd imagine it allows more flexibility for trialists/new signings instead of finding them hotels.

Those pictures of Real Madrid's training ground indicate that they have personalised bedrooms for first team players, so maybe that's the standard in Spain. Somehow I doubt it though.

It isn't always just for the first team. Academy programs often use the same facilities.

Are there tigers in Ohio?

Nevertheless, I think that's just a random picture chosen by whoever made the render.

Reading FC

More info/renders will be added in the coming weeks, but here's some details on Reading's new training ground:

Quote:
Background: On Friday 11th October 2013, we exchanged contracts with the Royal Merchant Navy School Foundation (www.rmnef.org.uk) for the purchase of nearly 120 acres of land in Wokingham for the club’s new training ground.

The site at Bearwood Estate will be the new home for both our first team and Academy, and plans have already been drawn up for 15 pitches on site, with purpose-built indoor facilities.
The conditional contract will be finalised on the receipt of planning permission, and a full planning request will be submitted to Wokingham Borough Council in the near future.
Site in question is currently a golf course:

Warren Farm deal signed with Ealing Council …

QUEENS Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to announce a development agreement for Warren Farm has been signed with Ealing Council, meaning planning permission for the club’s new training complex can now be issued.

Under the development agreement, QPR will build a new multi-purpose community sports complex and elite training facility, which will provide a base for the club’s first team and academy, as well as give local people access to high-quality community and sports facilities.

QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes said: “We are committed to building the club in the right way and putting in place the foundations for future success.

“The academy is an important part of this, and this agreement is the next step in strengthening the long term prospects of QPR.

“We are delighted to partner Ealing Council and are particularly excited about playing our part in providing fantastic new sporting facilities for local residents, and to build on the excellent work of our Community Trust to strengthen our ties with the community and provide opportunities for all.”

The club’s new training complex will bring together the academy with the first team. It will provide state-of-the-art- facilities where our young players can develop, and represents important progress for the club’s long-term ambitions.

The improvements to the site will also include enhanced football and cricket pitches, a new artificial turf pitch and multi-games areas suitable for sports such as netball and tennis. There will be a new changing block and facilities catering for disabled users, as well as bookable community space in the new clubhouse. Access to the site will also be improved, making it safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

A Community Sports Development Programme (CSDP) has also been drawn up as part of the agreement, which will see QPR offer a range of sports programmes for local people, as well as other opportunities to take part in community activities. The CSDP focuses on encouraging local people, particularly young women, older people and people with disabilities, to get involved in sport.

Councillor Julian Bell, leader of Ealing Council, said: “Warren Farm is in dire need of redevelopment, so it is fantastic that QPR has committed to such a huge investment into the site.

“Signing this deal is the next step towards bringing Warren Farm back into use and transforming it into a thriving hub of community activity and sport.

“QPR’s plans have a strong focus on community involvement and I’m looking forward to seeing it all come together.”

The club aims to bring the new facilities into use in 2016.
