Dubai's modern take on this style......
Well, yes. But most of them look like cheap copys.

Al Kazim Towers look good, but not as good as the original Chrysler Building.

The more I see of Dubai the more i realize that Ive never seen such a collection of Post Modern architecture. All of the white lines/ stripes are disturbing. I like the height and variation though.

You're very observant... the stripes are a common theme in the skyline, in general.... it's pretty irritating sometimes!

I'm sorry, but all I saw were 3 bad imitations of the Chrysler Building (Churchill Residency, Al Kazim Towers) and a very cheap imitaiton of the Westminster Clock Tower, but never saw the Art-Deco in there

People, please prove some taste and defend Art Déco!

Don't let the petrodollar junk Burj Dubai win over the classy Chrysler Building! Go vote!

São Paulo, Brazil: The building "Gold to the Good of São Paulo", built in 1939 with the remaining money of donations given to finance a failed revolution in 1932; due to the narrow streets of old downtown São Paulo it is not possible to get good pictures.
The building is somewhat decayed (it has been recently restored) but it is very impressive, as it was built to simulate the state flag flying.

Yeah, it seems to be a bit of a "design theme". I guess, in a way, it could be seen as more interesting than ordinary glass.

oh btw Chrysler is lookin sexy in that pic and wish it luck in the semifinals.
1930s art deco.. a time of epicness.

I can't believe no one has posted the wonderful GE Building thus far. Imo it's rivalled only by the Chrysler and Empire State buildings as the finest art deco skyscraper in the world.

Source: Wikipedia

New York has no rivals when it comes to art deco.

Never liked the GE Building that much. It has some nice details and impressive interior and the whole Rockefeller Center complex is of course something. But for my taste it's just too plain, I'm missing ornaments, elements of art, details.

It has a fabulous entrance with a groundbreaking message though:

"Wisdom And Knowledge Shall Be The Stability Of Thy Times." Epic. I adore these times.

Details of the facade:

Seriously... Could it get any more cool than this kind of stuff?

Along with another masterpiece - the Chrysler Building, that (luckily) just won the supertall competition against that petrodollar junk Burj Khalifa.

Interiors of the General Electric building. Art Déco on the outside, Art Déco on the inside. Yummy mummy.
