M101 SKYWHEEL KUALA LUMPUR
https://www.studiofaporsche.com/

Quote:
The first of its kind in the world, the M101 SkyWheel with its two towers is a landmark designed to redefine the Kuala Lumpur skyline.

For our approach we applied local Malay design elements through a functional and thoroughly modern lens, turning traditional patterns into bold and new imagery.

Three signature elements help define the building: its red meridian stripe, the reflective black glass and the titanium pedestal, which elevates the building and instills a sense of presence. Each element operates individually and complementarily to form one grand design.

By applying our functional product-design-oriented approach to the façade, with a focus on materials and attention to detail, we ensured that the design stands as a product that challenges conventional design thinking and allows visitors to interact with the space in entirely new ways.

I wonder if the clock/ferris wheel rotates on its vertical axis. If stationary, then only the view of the building walls will be seen mostly from that rendered position. Overall, despite my misgivings over the whole design, I hope it will turn out better than expected.

So if Macau has their unique Ferris Wheel with the figure-8 (at Studio City), we have this one that's also a giant watch... And the podium block kinda reminds me of a cut-off portion of Element KL by Westin (it's Ilham Tower, am I correct?), don't you think so?

I dislike this dark theme of the interior. Looks posh and all but nope.
The exterior on the other hand, i dont quite mind as i think it will stand out really well.

Curious to see how the vaunted skymall will pan out to be.

I could see that this rendering shows that this tower is at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng......hmmm......

Anyway from the looks of it, this could be classified as twin towers according to CTBUH's classification rules. This is because less than 50% of the building are co-joint.

I also have the opinion that the watch is kinda tacky and lots of unessary info on the face. This is not one's wrist and displays such as the other dials apart from the two hands that tells the hour and the minute shouldn't be on the clock face.

Plus there would be issues with wind load and vortexes and such so I doubt that the clockface could be a solid. I could be wrong but having a ferris wheel stiking out of the building so high up would need some passages for wind to pass thru esp when there's moving pods for the ferris wheel.....else there would be vibrations and stuffs like that.....
