Projects In Eilat

The city of Eilat is known by most, Israelis or tourists as a resort and vacation city. Eilat's warm weather, hotels, beaches and coral nature reserve are known all around the world.
Most of Eilat's visitors see only the touristic part of the city - the Northen and Southern beaches with their attractions.
The scenery of those areas are the vast residential area that populate almost 50,000 residents and the amazing red mountains.

Eilat as seen from Aqaba's beach

In this post i will try to show all the new development plans and projects that are currently under construction, approved or proposed.
Also, i'll will tell about the residential area of Eilat, which is mostly unknown by most of the visitors of Eilat.

Anyway, that's a map of Eilat with a sketch of it's projects:

The projects:

1. A residential project with several hundrends of residential units and parks. Currently u/c.

2. Shahamon 6 - A huge neighbourhood development project of about 1500 residential units of several types of structures.
Currently under infrastructure development (btw, my father is the lead engineer of the infrastructue project).
For more information: http://www.mmi.gov.il/PirsumMichrazi...mon/index.html

3. Another Part of Shahamon 6. Now that think about it, i don't know what i put this as a seperate project - maybe it's because there will be different structure types - probably Villas.

4. This area is soon to be a very large Villas area with a magnificant view to the sea. There wasn't a tender yet, but some infrastructure works are already done.

5. This small area is an expand to the Ganim Bet, a luxorius villas neighborhood. Currently u/c.

6. That lot is for the La Palmeraie project. It's a luxorius apartments project, with a walking-distance from the beach.

Currently u/c - almost finished.

7. This lot is for the Residence du Golf project. It's another luxorius apartments project from the same contractor as the La Palmeraie project - Yossi Avrahami.
Currently u/c.

For more information about those two peojects:
http://yav.co.il/

8. This lot is now being under infrastructure development probably for a continuation for the cheap condos for students that learn in the nearby campus of the Ben-Gurion University.

9. This all area was supposed to be built by now with various hotels and attractions - but the difficult reality stuck the whole project becasue several reasons - mainly because of bad infrastrucure development of the marine and also because of a lack of demand for more hotels.
In the last weeks there were news that the minister of tourism announced that Eilat needs more hotels.
So we'll wait.

10. This huge area is supposed to be the lot for the Aquaria project - a huge attraction park in near the border with Jordan.
Yet there is no cranes in or bulldozers in the area because of a disagreement between Eilat municipality and the Eilot kibutz about the area of the park.
http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-3278890,00.html

That's all for now.
I'll try to picture some of the construction sites as soon as possible.
For any questions - i'm here

Eilat should be a hot place for old people trying to move into a nice resort...this will be very nice...

Israels weather is usually nice, but in the winter time, it can get cold and very grey outside....

What many do in North America and Europe is go down south and enjoy the winter there...

also... is there some sort of Port in Eilat? if so... where is it located in the city?
I went in 2004 to Eilat and i saw like 5-6 trucks bring Hyundai/Mazda cars.... where is it located and is it the biggest in Israel or is Haifa the biggest? or ashkelon/ashdod?

Not only old people. If you enter the site of the contractor of the luxury apartments projects you'll see an option for the site in the French language - that's because 80% or so of the apartments are sold to jewish French tourists.
It's amazing! It's happening in my neighborhood also. In the winter, if you are passing by in the streets you can hear the squirrels eating nuts on the tree tops. But in the summer...you think that you're on the French Reviere.

The port is located at the bottom of the picture, below development areas 2 and 3. It's a small port, nothing compared to Haifa and Ashdod. It imports mainly Cars for the Far East and Oil. The exports are mainly Salt and Phosphate.

Expansion Of The Marina

There is a plan to vacate the Dead Sea Factories behind the hotel area, and the expand the marina into it, adding to it 600 dunams of water, islands and beaches full of bays in a total length of 12 kilometers of new coastline, and build new hotels, residential units and attractions all around it (like "King City").

General Plan:

A Typical Cut:

The Area Today:

Current Status: Proposed, since 2004.

The resolution on some parts of the country, like Jerusalem and Eilat got improved couple of months ago.

And the expansion of the marina project - that's amazing!
Never heard of that. Probably would never start developing with the currnet municipal leaders :\

The Aquaria should have been a huge attractions park, something like the Disneyland of Israel. With the current develpment of the project it will probably get u/c in a few decades....

Man, i feel very sad every time that i hear about a new urban project for this city because i know that like every big project in this city, it is doomed to stay in the drawer and never to be put on ground.
If it's the Casino, the Railway to Eilat, the new International airport near En Evrona or the Aquaria project.
And it's so sad because this city has such great potential to be a worldwide tourist city like Cannes, what it wishes to be.
So sad that the city's development plans are stuck because of beaurocratics.

Hope it will be changed soon.

Wow, lots of projects going on in Eilat !

By the way, where is the border ? I thought it was that creek running between the Aquaria project and the marina project.

The Jordan-Israel border is located right on the east end of the Aquaria project lot.
