Yes, thats Elizabeth House. There is a post a couple of pages ago saying there is a design competition going on for the building.

What's currently there is terrible; especially being right in the heart of london. This new design looks ok; nothing spectacular but certainly a vast improvement on what is currently there.

Yep pretty bland and uninspiring but a big improvement on what is there, this piece of crap has been derelict for as long as I can remember. Although is the new design good enough for such a prominent location? I really can't remember the last time a good stone building was proposed, seems to be all glass and steel these days, anyone?

cuidad & johny5 - P&O own not just Elizabeth house but all the 60's office buildings that run down York way (the nasty ones u see when you come into Waterloo/Eurostar station- they have had a couple of plans for these buildings but nothing has ever come of them

^Those buildings are part of the design competition.

Whoever they choose can't do any worse than the last design.

I couldn't agree more. Every new design is glass/steel most of the time and there is a lack of new stone proposals. I would like to see some new proposals which incorporate stone. Just because it's 2005 doesn't mean we can't still use stone- it can look very good.
