#COMPLETED: THE ICE LAND WATERPARK (R.A.K.)

Foundation stone laid for Dh850m park in RAK

Ras Al Khaimah: The foundation stone for a huge entertainment venue and theme park in Ras Al Khaimah has been laid by Shaikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

The Dh850 million Wow Rak theme park project will be developed over 120 acres in the Khor Qurm region and is expected to provide a huge boost to the emirate's tourism figures.

Planned as a complete family entertainment venue, the development will include two adjacent theme parks with a capacity to cater to 15,000 visitors per day, and a non-ticketed shopping and entertainment plaza.

The project is expected to be completed in two years, officials said.

"The project will contribute to the comprehensive development boom currently taking place in Ras Al Khaimah and will boost tourism facilities available in the emirate," said Shaikh Saud.

The new venture is being promoted by Polo RAK Amusements LLC, a joint venture company between India-based Polo Amusement Park Limited, the RAK Investment Authority and RAK Properties.

Sheikh Saud lays foundation stone for mega theme park in RAK

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, laid the foundation stone for 'WOW RAK', a mega multipart entertainment venue and theme park to be set up in Ras Al Khaimah with an investment value of AED 850 million at a function held here last evening.

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, laying the foundation stone for 'WOW RAK', a mega entertainment venue and theme park in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday.

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the new venture is being promoted by Polo RAK Amusements LLC, a joint venture company between India- based Polo Amusement Park Ltd, RAK Investment Authority (RAKIA) and RAK Properties.

The theme park project will be developed over an area of 120 acres in the Khor Qurm region and is expected to shore up the tourism fortunes of the Emirate in a big way. Planned as a complete family entertainment venue, 'WOW RAK' would include two adjacent theme parks with a capacity to cater to 15,000 visitors per day, a non- ticketed shopping and entertainment plaza and a show ground. The project is expected to be completed in 24 months.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony, Sheikh Saud said that the new project would make available world class entertainment options available in Ras Al Khaimah.

"The project would contribute to the comprehensive development boom currently taking place in RAK and would boost the tourism facilities available in the Emirate", he added.

Dr. Khater Massaad, Advisor to the RAK Crown Prince and CEO of RAKIA, said that the project is strategically located near the upcoming mega property developments like Al Marjan Island, Al Hamra Village and Mina Al Arab and would complement the ongoing expansion of hotel infrastructure in the Emirate which is adding up around 8000 hotel rooms.

Introducing the project, Balwant Singh, Managing Director and CEO of Polo RAK JV said that 'WOW RAK' would be an epicenter for entertainment, leisure and recreation featuring two theme parks- 'Oasis Aqua Park' and 'Planet Earth Theme Park' apart from Mall of Ras Al Khaimah, a 12,000 square metre shopping mall and entertainment plaza and a Show Ground.

He said that Oasis Aqua Park, spread over 31 acres, would have unique attractions including the world's largest manmade water fall, an interactive play area that can accommodate 3000 people along with a rain dance pool.

The Aqua Park also has on offer 26 different types of slides to cater to all age groups and visitor profiles, a Wave Pool, Coral reefs, Aqua Soccer facility and a Lazy River which is 600 metres long. Another distinctive feature would be the Kiddie Water Park area which replicates all the aqua park attractions in a miniaturized form to be a safe and exclusive area for the kids. The water park would also have Kabanas as luxury shelters on the beach front for day and overnight stay options.

The Planet Earth Theme Park, spread over 24 acres, would feature five theme zones each representing an Earth element- Oceanic, Cosmos, Mountain, Jungle and Desert. Each zone would have a special anchor attraction, 3- 4 family and thrill rides and 3-4 kiddie rides besides a themed eatery and merchandising outlet.

All the zones and recreation areas have been designed to alleviate heat with the use of water bodies, greenery, mist, snow and ice and air conditioned environments. The Mountain Zone would offer roller coaster ride through the mountains and would feature a Snow House with winter theme attractions like ice sliders and a snow play area. The Oceanic Zone would have a water chute as a anchor attraction that would take visitors through a live aquarium creating an underwater experience. The Desert Zone would add local flavour with sand finishes, typical desert flora and fauna and would have a 700 metre long wooden roller coaster, the first of its kind in the region.

The theme park would also include Mall of Ras Al Khaimah, a 12,000 square metre shopping mall and entertainment plaza which will offer 120 merchandising outlets for gifts, curios and handicrafts with live performances by artisans from across the world. The venue would also have a 4 D theatre, multiplex, gaming arcade, bowling alley, indoor golf and food courts.

'WOW RAK' would also feature UAE's prime show ground spread over an area of 11 acres as a sea front venue for hosting mega shows, beauty pageants, award ceremonies, reality shows and other shows of international and regional appeal. The show ground would be able to accommodate upto 7000 guests.

The company is currently developing another Aqua Park in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

#PROJECT-Ras Al Khaimah: WOW RAK

No need for this crap in a peaceful small town. They should focus on nature or something more creative. Not every emirate needs a theme park.

Dh850m theme park to put RAK on tourism map

By Nasouh Nazzal, Staff Reporter

Ras Al Khaimah: Ras Al Khaimah will soon have a Dh850 million theme park with a host of attractions, including the largest man-made waterfall in the world.

The model of the 120-acre WOW RAK, a multipart entertainment venue and theme park currently under construction at the Khor Qurm region, was unveiled at a function yesterday at Manar Mall.

The theme park is being promoted by Polo RAK Amusements - a joint venture company between Polo Amusement Park from India, RAK Investment Authority and RAK Properties.

WOW RAK will include two adjacent theme parks - Ice Land Water Park and Planet Earth Theme Park - with a capacity to cater to 15,000 visitors per day, apart from a 12,000 square metre shopping mall and entertainment plaza and a resort. The water park will be ready for the public by May 2008 and the entire theme park will be completed in two years.

Dr Khater Massaad, Adviser to RAK Crown Prince and CEO of RAK Investment Authority, said the project was part of RAK Government's strategy to transform the emirate into a premier tourism destination in the region.

"We are in the process of enhancing the hotel infrastructure available in the emirate and are also making efforts to provide world- class entertainment options by undertaking projects like this mega theme park," he added.

Balwant Singh, managing director and CEO of the Polo RAK JV said: "WOW RAK theme park, which is being built over an area of 120 acres, will be an epicentre for entertainment, leisure and recreation by making available many unique attractions for the first time in the region".

WOW RAK to Challenge Dubailand ? Although Dubai has grabbed the world’s attention with it’s iconic developments including Ski Dubai, its neighbouring emirate in the United Arab Emirates, Ras Al Khaimah, has big plans of its own. Most notable amongst these is WOW RAK, an AED 850 million theme park, billed to become the largest theme park in the UAE.
A scale model of WOW RAK was unveiled late last month. It is being developed by the Indian company Polo Amusement Park Ltd, operator of India’ only indoor snow centre, Snow World, under a joint venture company RAK Amusements LLC and with the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.
Balwant Singh, Managing Director and CEO of the Polo RAK JV, speaking at the unveiling of the scale model, said, "WOW RAK theme park which is being built over an area of 120 acres will be an epicentre for entertainment, leisure and recreation by making available many unique attractions for the first time in the region".
WOW RAK will include two adjacent theme parks- Ice Land Water Park and Planet Earth Theme Park with a 15,000 visitors per day capacity. There will also be a 12,000 sq. metre shopping mall and entertainment plaza and a Kabana resort.
The snow-themed Ice Land Water Park will be spread over 30 acres and will house he world's largest man- made waterfall. The waterfall will be 160 metres wide and cascade from a height of 35 metres. Water would plunge down from a towering cliff at a rate of 100,000 litres per minute. The water park will also have the world's largest rain dance pool spread over 6000 square metres, complete with pulsating music and showers. The Planet Earth Theme Park, spread over 24 acres, will have five theme zones each representing an Earth element- Oceanic, Cosmos, Mountain, Jungle and Desert. All the zones and recreation areas have been designed to alleviate heat with the use of water, greenery, mist, snow and ice and air conditioning.
The Mountain Zone will offer a river rafting experience through the mountains and will feature a snow house with winter theme attractions like ice sliders and a snow play area.
The water park will be completed by May 2008 with the remainder of the park opening in May 2009.

Well, I never heared of a "Rain Dance Pool" Is it a half-filled Dance-floor where you can dance in the water or something like that? Cool think. Somehow reminds me of the filthy foam parties i used to like some years ago...

Completion is set for phase one in May 2009 which comprises of the waterpark. The Granada phase of Mina Al Arab will be completed in June 2009 which is right next door to
theme park see www.minaalarab.net for location and map, i'm surprised there is very little been made about the largest water park in the UAE opening in 4 months time.
Big Tourist attraction and jobs to the area.

biggest water parks.
Just not very inspiring imho.

just thought they would be shouting a bit louder about such a project.
