Pre-season put on hold for rugby league clubs including Barrow Raiders

The Rugby Football League has revealed how the latest national lockdown will affect domestic rugby league at all levels.

Clubs in the Betfred Championship and League 1, including Barrow Raiders, will pause their pre-season training programmes for the next two weeks, as will Betfred Women’s Super League sides, and academy and scholarship programmes will also stop.

Carlisle United v Harrogate Town AFC is CALLED OFF after power cut

Tonight's Carlisle United match against Harrogate Town was cancelled because of a power cut.

The home club said a local power outage had left "areas of the ground" without power - including the floodlights.

The lights went out at about 5pm and the League Two game was officially called off about two hours later.

Carlisle United hope striker Joshua Kayode will be fit to face Mansfield Town

Chris Beech hopes Joshua Kayode will be fit for Carlisle United's next game.

The Rotherham loan striker has a knee problem which the Blues hope will prove to be minor.

Head coach Beech said Kayode complained of the problem in Monday's training session.

Silloth Golf Club ranked 89th in Today's Golfer's Top 100 Golf Courses in the World you can play.

Covid-19 won’t stop Cumbria Karate Academy as they train and compete on Zoom

TRAINING has not stopped for young karatekas in Cumbria despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cumbria Karate Academy have been offering virtual classes on Zoom during all three national lockdowns.

Under normal circumstances, the club would be run from its bases in Whitehaven, Egremont, Cockermouth and Workington

Whitehaven will be ready for rugby league's return in Challenge Cup

THE SHOW could soon be back on the road for ruby league clubs as the RFL has revealed its target date for the restart of training and competition.

The Betfred Championship and League One clubs are all targeting March 21 as their return date. Whitehaven’s chairman Tommy Todd told The Whitehaven News that although public health is the top priority, the side are eager to get back on the field.

Workington AFC bosses call for "brave decisions" in ruling on NPL season

IT’S CRUNCH time in the Northern Premier League as football clubs are submitting their recommendations on how to handle the season in light of the third lockdown.

Earlier this month The FA announced that it would conduct a survey amongst clubs in the NPL asking their opinion before deciding what to do about the 2020/2021 season.

Kendal golfer Caitlin Whitehead receives England call-up for 2021 season

A Kendal golf player has been selected by England Golf’s women’s squad for the 2021 season.

18-year-old Caitlin Whitehead was called up to the women’s squad in last week’s announcement.

Caitlin, who is a member of Carus Green Golf Club in Kendal, was part of the 2020 girls’ squad, but has now made the step up to the women’s squad.
She commented: “I am thrilled to be part of the England women’s squad.
