These new developments are proposed in Mumbai, Chennai and Goa. They laid special emphasis on the property in Mumbai, which will be operated under management contract by Premier Inn. The property is owned by the Kamala Group.

rotana-enters-india-with-mumbai-hotel-

Dubai: Rotana Hotels has signed a management agreement for its first property in India, Omer Kaddouri, president and chief executive of the company, told Gulf News in an interview on Thursday.
The 200-room hotel under its midscale Centro Hotels brand is expected to open in Mumbai by 2018.
“Once we open one, I’m sure there will be more to come,” Kaddouri said without providing additional details. He, however, declined to name the hotel’s owner.
India has attracted the interest of a number of hotel companies, including Dubai-based Jumeirah, which reportedly plans to operate a hotel in Mumbai by 2019, and US-based Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, which has more than 40 properties there.
“The Indian hotel market is large and diverse. India has an increasing middle class with money to spend,” said Christopher Hewett, senior consultant at TRI Consulting.
The Abu Dhabi-based hotel chain, which has 50 properties in operation and 55 under development, will focus on expanding in other areas in the Middle East and Africa region in the coming years. Rotana had set a target two years ago to have 100 hotels in the region by 2020.
“We’re very strong in the UAE and that allows us to start thinking about signing more hotels in other areas around us,” Kaddouri said.
The company plans to open 10 hotels in the region by the first quarter of 2016 in markets including Turkey, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain and Congo. Two hotels in Qatar and one in Bahrain are scheduled to open by the end of the year, while properties in Lagos, Nigeria and Mauritania are expected to open in two-and-a-half years time.

St Regis to debut in Mumbai at Palladium

http://m.timesofindia.com/city/mumbai/st-regis-hotels-to-debut-in-india/articleshow/47461825.cms
MUMBAI: The iconic St. Regis is checking into India. The ultra-luxury brand of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide will dot the Mumbai skyline this August or September as the NYSE-listed chain looks to ramp up its presence in Asia's third largest economy. The lodging company will fly the St. Regis flag over the 386-room Palladium Hotel, which would mark Starwood's fourth property in the city and 44th in the country.

St. Regis is entering a market with growing number of wealthy individuals but plenty of competition where an oversupply of rooms has depressed tariffs, especially in big cities, for the last few years. Starwood, which operates over 30 properties under St. Regis brand globally, plans to have a limited edition of the luxury label in the country.

Palladium Hotel, owned by Pallazzio Hotels & Leisure__a joint venture between Atul Ruia's Phoenix Mills and Pune based builder Avinash Bhosale__was on the look-out for a new operator after its abrupt split with Hong Kong's Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts in September 2013. Subsequently, the owners renamed the property as Palladium.

"We have been wanting to bring St. Regis into India for a while. When we were presented with this opportunity, the hotel's location, sophistication, features, culinary offerings et al fitted well with the St. Regis brand," said Dilip Puri, MD, Starwood India.

In Mumbai, St. Regis will be positioned against the Taj, Oberoi and Four Seasons, where average occupancy level is 65% and room rate is Rs 13,000. Mumbai, unlike other markets like Delhi, where an oversupply of rooms have put downward pressure on tariffs, has remained buoyant and resilient.

Hoteliers expect fiscal 2016 to be better on the back of the government's thrust on tourism, new visa reforms and a reversal of economic growth which had slowed down substantially since 2011.

Besides St. Regis, Starwood, one of the earliest foreign chains to enter the country, has a presence through Sheraton, Le Meridien, W, Westin and Four Points brands.

Coming up, a 30-storey five-star on RIL campus

Select floors to be reserved for relocating company’s offices from Mumbai

Ghansoli: A brand new monolith is reaching for the skies on Navi Mumbai’s busiest road. Housed within Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Corporate Park, the under-construction high-rise when complete, will be symbolic of the satellite city’s emergence as a booming new economy destination.
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has been constructing a twin tower — of which one building is 30-storey — along the Thane-Belapur road in Ghansoli.
The under-construction building is believed to house primarily a five-star hotel, extension offices of RIL and service apartments. At present, there is not a single hotel, including all the five-star hotels in Navi Mumbai, having 30-storey building.
According to sources, the upcoming building — apart from a five-star hotel — will have around 150 rooms for which the RIL has entered into a venture with minor stake with a major player in the hotel industry.
The sources informed that East India Hotels — which owns and manages Oberoi and Trident hotels across India — entered in the join venture with the RIL.
For Navi Mumbaikars, this may be another place for eating out, but, the development is major in terms of the real estate growth and employment generation.
As per experts from the realty sector, this is the first 30-storey building in Navi Mumbai which will house a five-star hotel. This is likely to help generate employment for many as well as push up property rates in the city.
“Around 12 to 15 acres land are being used for the building,” said an employee from the construction site, requesting anonymity.
Navi Mumbai has witnessed huge real estate growth, especially after a number of industries and IT companies shifted their offices to the satellite city in the last one decade. “In 2009, the RIL also shifted around 2,000 employees to Navi Mumbai office as part of its cost cutting as per head cost in Navi Mumbai is much lower than Mumbai,” said the source.
The upcoming building may also be the part of plan to shift the RIL executives to city for better coordination and cost cutting. “That was the starting point of the plan, which is now taking shape. People from other offices will also be moved to Ghansoli in the future,” said a person close to the group, requesting anonymity.
He added, “Seven to eight towers are already constructed in Ghansoli and there are plans to set up a shopping mall and a hotel too.”
Sources also informed that the development is major as the activity along the Thane-Belapur road is likely to go up once the offices and hotel become operational. Currently, the existing offices of RIL houses around 4,000 to 5,000 staff, which is likely to go up 9,000 in future, the source claimed.
