Today I got the opportunity to visit one of the apartments in the Carlsberg Silo (the cylinder-shaped one). The views of Copenhagen and Carlsberg Byen are amazing from up there. Luckily the weather was also with me today!

Hi all,

I'm very interested in this property development and plan. I am looking for some government plans or documents about it in English. In particular documents about the 'front end' development process.Does anyone have any links?

Cheers

… or the 72 pages to date on this thread is probably one of the best sources of information on the subject in English and gives a very complete running history of the huge Carlsberg project.

Wondering how they would demolish the old HQ/Silo building considering it is right beside new occupied housing and offices.

Read it would happen from the inside, probably as illustrated in the article about demolishing the towers at Euston station in London. (to make way for the new High Speed 2 station)

The skyline of CarlsbergByen seen from the Bella Quarter today.

I count 16 cranes involved.

Dahlerups Tårn i baggrunden.

Her set fra syd.

'Live' set fra nord.

Mineralvandshuset.

Tuxens Tårn/Fristrup Hus.

'Bag Elefanterne'.

Grænsen til Frederiksberg med Bakkehuset til højre.

Vogelius Tårn-byggeriet set fra Kildepladsen.

Grøndahls Tårn.

Visma-byggeriet nede mod Vesterfælledvej.

Carlsberg Byen i eftermiddags.

C byens smukkeste hus.

A view from the roof of Frederiksberg Slot, over the trees in Søndermarken, to the Carlsberg site at the moment dominated by cranes, but very soon by high rises.

Men!...

More or less.

I know I hold Carlsberg Byen to high standards, but I'm a little disappointed here. Yes, some of the brickwork is nice, but the top/uniform part combined with the very regular, boxy shape and no other expression in the building makes it incredibly bland. So when I look at it right next to Elefantporten, it does not at all pay homage, as I see it, and actually pulls down from the awe that Elefanporten is. I would have wanted a much more decorated, gradual transition.

I get your point, and think the issue has been discussed previously.

Whether the iconic port should be met by something similar spectacular design, or if it should be surrounded by more calm and modest design.

Maybe a better photo/angle can change your mind. I think the 2 buildings goes well together.

Yeah, I definitely need to see it in person before making my final verdict. But from the photo, I do think a different modern design could have complimented it better. Overall, the building seems fairly uninspiring in its overall shape and design, except for the obfuscated brickwork towards the bottom.
