If you're into cigars, this is THE place to go in Tampa! Right in the middle of Ybor on 7th Ave, this place is an all around great experience for cigar lovers. If you're not into smoking or the cigar scene it also includes a bar featuring live music on many nights throughout the week. Try the "Light of Ybor," handmade at the shop.

Bella's Italian Cafe, SoHo/Hyde Park
http://www.bellasitaliancafe.com/
Great Italian food in a nice atmosphere, moderately priced, in an awesome up-and-coming part of town. One of my "usual" places. I've never had a bad experience here. I often get the "Pollo Rosso," a semi-spicy chicken liguini dish. The bruschetta is really good as well. No reservations needed.

The Castle Nightclub, Ybor City
http://castleybor.com/
I go here on Thursday nights for a truly unique club experience, featuring indie and 80s music with music videos displayed on two huge screens upstairs in the main dance hall. Other nights are kind of "Gothic" so I personally avoid it on those nights, but if you're into that sort of thing then try it out then too. Ages 18+ only...

Bern's, SoHo/Hyde Park
http://www.bernssteakhouse.com/
The legend... Local fine dining in Tampa at its finest. Features the biggest wine selection in the world (literally), and aged steaks that melt in your mouth. It has been called by many the best steakhouse in America. For a very special night out, eat here. And don't forget the Dessert Room afterward! Reservations and appropriate dress necessary.
*Castle Nightclub link was outdated, so I replaced the original link with the current one.

Then there's more from moxwax...

Edward's Cigars, Kennedy
http://www.edwardstampa.com/
A smaller cigar shop, and not as touristy as some of the Ybor cigar bars/shops. The guys here are very knowledgeable and will tell you everything you need to know about cigars in a down to earth way without just trying to sell you the most expensive stuff. Very helpful for beginners, and reasonably priced.

Cappy's Pizzeria, South Tampa
(again, no website... Address: 3200 W Bay To Bay Blvd)
My favorite local pizza place. Offers both "New York" (thin crust) and "Chicago"

(deep dish) style pizzas, but I always go with the Chicago style. The sauce is the best you will find anywhere, and the prices aren't bad either. If pizza's not your thing, they have a really good Greek salad and some other alternative offerings as well. Just a fun place to relax with some friends.
*Cappy's now has a website:
http://www.cappyspizzaonline.com/

*Taqueria Cantina has since closed.

A seafood classic restaraunt in Tampa since 1935 right on Bayshore. Offers some of the best skyline views you'll ever see so close to ground level.

Columbia, Ybor City
http://www.columbiarestaurant.com/
A Spanish classic. What is one of the oldest, if not the oldest restaraunt in the state. Check out the museum/gift shop across the street.

Hooters, Several Locations
http://www.hooters.com/Home/Default.aspx
Some of the best chicken chicken wings around. A local chain that extends across the country.
*CK's at TIA has since closed, as well as Newks at Channelside. I had to replace

the original link to the Hooters website with the current one.

Good German food and a german market. I have never met a friendlier staff and they really know their beer. It's one of the only places in town that I know carrys Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest (my fave Oktoberfest) on tap.
*Replaced the original website link with the current one. And btw, I've eaten at Mr. Dunderbak's, and the food is AWESOME! Had some wonderful Wiener Schnitzel with Pommefrittes (fries)! YUM!

Let's start compiling a list here of all sites/blogs/pages we're aware of that post information about, or discuss urban development and happenings in Tampa, and the bay area in general. Provide a link straight to where it's discussed, if such a link exists. (we'll turn this into a thread of its own)

A range of the kind of examples I'm referring to. (I know of several more, but where's the fun in me posting them all?)

And the site for their community or urban activists.

Awesome Jason! This thread needs to be a hotspot of activity again. Glad I was able to clean things up from the original thread, but more definitely needs to be done. I will chip in as I can.

I just refreshed the list and added in the five links that you suggested Jason. I am now leaving the list in the hands of you and FloridaFuture since you both are the mods here again (although I might toss in a thing or two if I find it). Please feel free to arrange the list in whichever fashion you feel is best.

To all members, please feel free to post any suggestions and either FloridaFuture or Jasonhouse will add them to the list. Thank you.
