If they finish it right now. Could they technically continue the building?
I mean to put back cranes and keep it climbing to the sky.

It can't go higher than originally designed, since the already-built structure is designed to carry that weight and no more. Well, there are some margins, but there's always the question of fitting things together, and any additional weight high up would have a cascade effect of additional weight below it as the structure has to be reinforced to take the extra load, and then the structure weighs more so the next structure down needs to be reinforced, and so on. So if any additional height can be added at all, it can't amount to that many meters.

As for whether they can build it to the designed height... I guess they could, if they find enough money for it somewhere. Hard to tell if that will happen, however.

If this news will hold then this is the best news of the year!

(I hope it means they will resume constructing a 1000m+ tower)

But he also said the delay was because the contractor had an 'issue' with labourers. Unfortunately this is a ridiculous reason, so it casts doubt on his credibility and what he has forecast.

Isn't that supposed to be 1,300 meters?

If they both ever get completed that is...

Nope. The foundations and support structure already in place for Jeddah Tower physically cannot support a structure as tall as the foundations in place for Dubai Creek Tower. There is no practical way to add that much height to Jeddah Tower without tearing it down, digging up the old foundations and building entirely new ones (and by that point, it'd be much, much cheaper to just find a new site and building it there instead, so they wouldn't have to tear down anything). The DCT foundations were built to the specifications of a 1300 m tower, the Jeddah Tower foundations were built to the specifications of a 1000 m tower. The height difference is too big to be made up with the existing structure of Jeddah Tower as a basis.

That being said, in practice, Jeddah Tower might end up at a taller final height (~280 m) than Dubai Creek Tower (~0 m).

The 1300 m height was never announced officially, I would not even say that there might be a competition if 1300 m is official. What's official now is only that it will be taller than BK. I agree that it will be 1000 m+ .But, I'm only talking about what's 100% for sure, here

Also, this one, all what's announced is 1000+

I guess it might be a trick by Emaar. However, it might end up taller than 1300 m and those predictions might end up right

Yes. And the Dubai Creek Tower would be the tallest man made structure, but not be the tallest building.
This is a nice video about what makes a building a skyscraper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zqq7cPxg_Yc

So, I don't think there is any competition at all. Jeddah would have the worlds tallest skyscraper / building and Dubai would have the world's tallest structure.

Tallest building will be JT for sure. But, tallest structure will be DKT only if it ends up higher. That's all. However, DKT has a higher possibility to end up higher

That is, if it gets built at all. Things aren't looking good for either of those two towers right at the moment.

This is it. While we focus on "tricks" or "competition" or "secret strategies", both towers are facing serious risks of never being finished.
