It's not always easy : trains length depends of stations lenght, more trains needs modernized exploitation, and all that ... cost money.

Bombardier Transportation consortium preferred bidder in $4.5B Cairo monorail
27 May 2019
The Canadian Press Excerpt

Bombardier Transportation says its consortium has been named preferred bidder in a C$4.5 billion contract to build and supply a new monorail system in Egypt’s capital.

The company’s potential share of the design and build contract for the system in Cairo is C$1.8 billion with an operations and maintenance deal valued at about C$1.67 billion over 30 years.

The 54-kilometre monorail will connect East Cairo with the New Administrative City and a second 42-km line will connect 6th October City with Giza.

The railway division of Bombardier Inc. will deliver the project in partnership with two Egyptian companies Orascom Construction and the Arab Contractors with the trains being developed and built in Derby, Britain.

The announcement comes four years after Bombardier said the consortium was finalizing discussions with the Egyptian government.

Cairo ordered new metro trainsets from Hyundai Rotem.

http://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsCont...-for-Cair.aspx

I don't know if the order is the part of the earlier order, or Cairo some days ago ordered additional 6 trainsets...!

According to this article (and several others I found) the 3rd line of Cairo's metro should be open till El Shams Club station:
https://www.egypttoday.com/Article/1...accomplished-3
However, in Google maps I see the line noted only until El Ahram.
Can someone provide a link or coordinates where exactly should El Shams Club station be and is it operational at the moment?
Thanks in advance.

I went to check out the progress of line 3 extension today. I found trains were running up to El Shams Club. I took the train from Ataba and got out at El Shams. You can see the location of the station on this Google Maps link:
https://goo.gl/maps/MVXU5NtYKxCDX5k16

Google Maps seem to be quite slow updating their "transit" / "public transport" view. Until recently, it showed Line 3 terminating at Abbassia station (rather than continuing to Al Ahram as it has done for a few years now).

To confirm, the following stops after Al Ahram are open:
  • Haroun
  • Heliopolis Square (* opened later than the other stations, on 20th October 2019)
  • Alf Masken
  • El-Shams Club
All of the above opened in June 2019, apart from Heliopolis Square.

They definitely aren't. They are new cars for Greater Anglia and London Overground - I would guess that is Bombardier in Derby - that is where they are going to build cars for the Cairo Monorail though, so there is a link

I don't remember the Egyptian National Railways ever awarding a franchise to Abellio or TfL.
