2200m! 2.2 km, more then twice as tall as the tower in Jeddah, sounds really crazy. I'm sure it will stay as a vision. But who knows...

There are many Hypertall projects in the Gulf States.

The Bride Tower in Basra ( over 1000 m )
Burj Mubarak al Kabir in Kuwait City ( 1001 m )
Dubai Vision Tower ( over 2000 m )
Jedah Kingdom Tower ( over 1200 m )
NEOM Robotic City with Vertical Construct over 3000 meters

It seems the race and challenge of the highest buildings in the world will be decided on the arabian peninsula.

I'd say it already was. After Burj Khalifa was built at an exorbitant cost, the other contenders basically decided "Yeah, there's no way we can beat that and still make money". Only one of the projects you listed even came close to getting off the ground, and it stalled completely not long afterwards.

Seems like a lot of places think it'd be cool to claim they're building something taller than Burj Khalifa, though. Just as long as they don't actually have to pay for building it.

Sounds like lots of men with small manhoods in that region trying to overcompensate for something!

If I'm Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, Saudi, etc. I'm thinking about how hot it's supposed to be by 2040-2050. At that point, heat waves will make large parts of the MENA region virtually uninhabitable. Rather than building these silly ass vanity projects which are just a chance for their leaders to measure size - I'd be thinking about securing a sustainable water supply, thinking how to green my kingdom to hopefully decrease the heat island effect, and planning for renewable energy sources to power near constant AC usage. Either that, or I'm buying up whatever property I can near the Great Lakes or Northern Europe...

I'm going to one up you (most because I know I can) and say it will start within the next one hour.

Imagine that this required a bunch of people to agree "oh, a 2200 meters tall tower, what a brilliant idea"! How about dealing with the oncoming droughts, heat weaves and other unpleasant stuff for humans?

The day this is completed will be the day it rains in Antarctica . . . hey, that might not be so far off!
