I look forward to more news and pictures of ongoing new developments in Liverpool, and will contribute pictures of my own when appropriate.

Just for the record, there is a lot going on in the city at present - not so much office developments and scrapers, but more about essential infra-structure such as hospitals, schools, university research facilities, exhibition centre, upgrades to transport facilities etc And also numerous touristic and leisure facilities, such as the new cruise liner terminal, and the re-development of Stanley Dock - with its might Tobacco Warehouse - the world's largest brick-built building. this site is already home to an awesome new hotel, but will also see apartments, retail and leisure facilities, as well as new studio space:

A much better website which exposes the truth of these new developments-

Nostalgia is a valid sentiment - and whilst it is agreed that not every new development is of the highest quality - the city does have to move on. The city is seeing a real renaissance at present, and the more people engage with the planning process, and submit comments, the better for the outcomes.

Lots has been going on in the last Decade or so, it's just that this thread was long forgotten about. Here's how the skyline has changed in that time period.

The Waterfront skyline has changed too in the years since this thread was last updated: a new museum, the 'Mann Island' Development; The 'Echo Arena and Conference Centre' ( new exhibition centre currently under construction):

The Liverpool One development at the time was the single largest city centre regeneration scheme in Europe. It renovated important older buildings, including Britain's first ever U.S consulate; built new ones; and re-instated traditional streetways; as well as re-connecting The Albert Dock and The Waterfront to the rest of the city:

Liverpool's waterfront regeneration has come on leaps and bounds too; largely cultural and touristic:
