Ah, a development name is always helpful when looking for information. Have found this animation:

I think a more subtle material like yellow sandstone or redbrick 'brick slips' would have been good.

I don't like the 'feature stairs' on the street level elevation but the site does have an impressive amount of outdoor space.

This area is going to feel very built up, but I hope they find someone to develop on that pointless 'pocket park'. That blank wall looks terrible.

If this were Bristol or Leicester, they may have considered commissioning some sort of art installation for that wall.

So if we are on circa 8 floors now, 11 to go, about a floor per week, this will possibly reach full height around New Year(ish).

If it stopped at this height it would look fairly imposing so full height is going to feel very big city, rather than Coventry's traditional 'large town' feel. This footfall could really help alot of local businesses/help new ones start.

Coventry's towers being around the edges of the city centre does seem quite unusual, as opposed to having a cluster of towers centrally concentrated. I guess its partially the role of the ring road i.e. not all uses are suitable for sites by the ring road, such sites are presumably alot cheaper so make student accommodation viable. This site being somewhat set in from the ring road could just as easily have accommodated pure resi, had the demand been there.

Also the role of the Precinct i.e. not a conventional street pattern, would limit the number of potential centrally located sites.

Interesting first look at a show room they've set up in the hotel :

I like the subtle period features, will definitely stay here on a visit back to Cov.

It's a pity this has been scaled back. I think the extra floor would have worked well, particularly on the elevation facing Upper Well Street. Still, good to see this building being brought back into use.

I hadn’t clocked that it was scaled back. Was this ever publicised? Is it still plan to rebuild left section when looking from Belgrade or is that scrapped too?

Shame the rooftop terrace has not materialised. That would’ve created a lot of interest and added something unique in the city. I wonder whether it’s cost related or due to the city of culture thing being only 12 months away. Don’t panic, Captain Mainwaring.....

Is the rooftop something that could be done later on, or is it now totally unfeasible?
