NEDA prefers ‘cheaper’ BGC route for subway project
by Rappler | Thursday | Published 5:31 PM, February 19, 2015;
Updated 4:31 PM, Mar 04, 2015

The government is set to shell out P20 billion more if it chooses 32nd Street in Bonifacio Global City as final subway stop

CHEAPER ROUTE. NEDA prefers the route using the 26th St. as the government would have to shell out an additional P20 billion for the route using the 32nd St. for the first subway system project in the country. Image from Wikicommons

MANILA, Philippines – Simply cheaper. Thus the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) is pushing for the alternative route in building the country’s first subway system project.

NEDA asked the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) to present the route using 26th Street instead of 32nd Street inside Bonifacio Global City for the P370 billion ($8.39 billion), 12-kilometer Mass Transit System Loop project. This would connect the cities of Makati, Taguig, and Pasay, DOTC Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said.

Kung wala talagang NEDA siguradong aprubado na first Philippine Subway. Nakadepende sa kanila kinabukasan ng transportasyon at ekonomiya natin. Kung kailan pa nila aprubahan saka lang matutuloy yan.

Due to the change of administration and recent events, the subway threads have been merged and reopened since the project seem to be no longer mythical and magical....

I got this illustration from the JICA 2014 powerpoint presentation from their website

It's interesting to see their proposed subway lines for Metro Manila. As stated in the video above, we could see from this illustration the proposed subway lines will traverse Makati CBD, BGC, Pasay, and Ortigas CBD. We could also see that it doesn't stop there. It goes all the way up if I am not mistaken up until the old Sauyo road, near Mindanao ave. and we could also see it also extend all the way down to Merville in Bicutan. It's as if JICA is expecting NAIA will be closed in the future to pave way to the Sangley proposal. We could also see the proposed subway extends all the way to MOA till, my best guess, to South Harbor port.

The first Manila subway should be initiated this year. 1st phase should start at 32nd street going to Makati CBD. A dynamic city like BGC deserve a fast, reliable, and convenient public transport.

They should put a station near the vicinity of SM Aura/Market2x (compromise nalang si Tatang at Ayalas)

Also, they should put a station at the Entertainment City complex

Subway in Metro Manila? Will I ever see this come into fruition within my [email protected][email protected]

The public need comes first. At this point, the SM one is the most viable and efficient. They should complete that NOW.

As for the subway....oh well.

As for Kintanar, time for social media warriors to reveal this guy. Time to make noise at Duterte for this mishap. Kintanar's M.O. is sooooo Abaya.

I have the latest completed study made by JICA. I want to post the future Market Market TOD subway station proposal where the front rotunda will be turned into ala-Louvre skylight pyramid dome. However, I need to have 10 posts to do it. Hehe

I agree. The proposed station at 32nd Street should be next to Market!2x. For the other end station at MOA, future extension towards Pagcor Entertainment City would be viable.

Why is the MOA station on EDSA-Macapagal Ave vicinity? Why not put it really in MoA where there is already high foot traffic? It's already about a 5-8 minute walk from that intersection to the Globe, then give or take another 10 minutes to go around the entire complex.
