I'll believe this project IF this pNoy admin even manages to extend LRT 2 and build the masinag station which is just a measly 4km+ away from santolan.

kayo naman. asa naman kayo na masisimulan ang LRT-2 at LRT-1 Extension projects. pinag-aaralan pa kasi nila... ang magiging kickbacks nila.

MANILA -- The Department of Transportation and Communications is inviting bidders for the LRT-2 Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract.

The DOTC published the invitation to pre-qualify and bid for the PPP project, a day after it awarded the LRT-Cavite extension project to the Metro Pacific-Ayala-Macquarie consortium.

The winning bidder will tale over the O&M of the 13.8-kilometer LRT-2, which has 11 stations, and the 4.19-kilometer LRT-2 Masinag Extension.

The construction of Masinag Extension is scheduled to begin in January 2015.

The concession period will be between 10 to 15 years.

The deadline for submission of pre-qualification documents is on 20 November 2014.

Bidding for the project is scheduled for the second quarter of 2015.

"This will vastly improve LRT-2’s services, by tapping private sector efficiency and customer service orientation, similar to the LRT-1 project. Meanwhile, government will retain its role as regulator to ensure that the interests of the riding public are protected," Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya said.

What is the build timeline for this project? Has all the right of way been purchased by the government and cleared? Or is it going to end up in years of legal disputes?

I would hope that before awarding it the land would all be acquired to allow an aggressive construction period to commence so that the costs don't rise too significantly and this much needed line can be completed to remove a lot of the buses from cavite off the roads.

Any ideas of capacity and frequency? I assume they have worked out projected numbers on current bus commuters plus factored in growth (who am I kidding of course hey haven't)

Marcos constructed the LRT1 at a time when the opposition lead by binay, cory, et al says its a waste of money but still marcos push through and never named a single station using his name. Pero etong si pnoy, KSP sobra ata.
