The back of this is horrible. Looks like something thrown up temporarily to host a wedding in a garden.

I hope it looks better when they finish the improvements.

This is a render from earlier on in the thread:

Seems bizarre they are proposing to close half that elevation off with what looks like timber cladding. You'd think they'd maximise the viewpoint onto the cathedral quarter with a fully glazed elevation.

I think the area immediately outside that window is used by the Slug & Lettuce for their outside bar?

It doesn't really look like the render displayed, are they still going to change the windows etc.?

Following from this, when is the gothic monument being reinstalled in its new location?

Another missed opportunity.

I certainly think losing the fake cross was a plus, though.

I think this is OK. The plans for this part of the development were never particularly ambitious. I'm more concerned with what they do with the Pepper Lane elevation. It looks a bit barren at the moment too, but once the unit opens and there is external seating and plants etc. it'll look fine. At least the horrible red trim has gone, and the sandstone wall looks better than the brick that was there before. For reference, this image is from 2016:

These are the plans as approved, so I'm guessing the changes to the external area for the Slug and Lettuce will come next:

What was in this gap before the war? Did the old Free Library fill most of this space?

I'd rather this space be built on to make the Cathedral area feel a little more 'complete'. If they want outside eating/drinking space ban cars from the cobbled road and use that. IMHO the backend of CL looks cheap and 'temporary'.
