There is an application going through planning to extend the scheme so that is physically connects to the existing Axo building and adds a further 200 beds. Not convinced by it personally:

Better than not having it connected at all. Never been a big fan of this one but the development up the road looks very nice. If its to that quality then it should look good.

This is lots of Accommodation.

I like the street level frontage that will be created. It will certainly improve one of the key routes into the city, although if I was a student I would prefer something in the city centre itself as its a bit out of the way compared to the other blocks.

Its interesting that instead of building as is or scaling back, schemes are considering expansion as I think the student block on the former Royal Mail site was considering adding another tower depending on what the market is like as they near completion (not sure if the reference to that meant the car park opposite the site). A good vote of confidence in the city if these schemes are being expanded.

This scheme has already been extended once by re-configuring the 'town houses' into cluster flats, so this is the second expansion. I'm just not sure about how they plan to extend it. Looks a bit too bulky now and perhaps could have benefited from an extra couple of floors. Still like the scheme overall though.

You're right though, rather than scale back, these schemes seem to be adding capacity. There is a new application for the former hospital site going through planning that is increasing the number of beds from the approved plans.

That's good to hear. Maybe it suggests they are running out of the 'easy' sites to develop, if every site involving demolishing existing buildings it might reduce the amount of student flats coming forward in terms of scheme viability. Having said that, the demolition costs for the old Royal Mail site would have been massive but that's flying up.

I agree that a couple of extra floors would have been better. Would have made it more of a 'gateway' development.

There is the Transco site on abbots road. Massive plot. 1 remaining plot on the Belgrade plaza development as well. Your right though, the empty land is running out fast.

Coventry has run out of (industrial) land. There was a report recently of a business moving out because it could not find a site big enough locally.

I'm trying to work out where you took that last one from. Is that Greyfriar's I can see?
