In the past few years were built many multi-story car parks in the center of the city in order to solve the problem with the parking space.

Today there are 5-6 multi-story car parks that are open for work, and another 4-5 are under construction. Some municipalities that cannot solve the parking problem with car parks built this kind of platforms in the existing parking lots, where you can park your vehicle on the second floor of the platform.

The Skenderbeg square. The photos are older, when the square was under construction. Actually, the square is lifted on the platform, while under the concrete construction there are caffe's, bars, fast food restaurants, shops etc.

Another panoramic view. On the left side in the distance you can see the stееl factory, while on the right side in the distance you can see the new part of Skopje. The residential tower in the front is located in the district of Zhelezara (steel factory in Macedonian language), a district that got it's name because of the factory near by.

Skopje/Скопје, about the drama around the non-recognition of the name Macedonia from Greece because their "legit" Macedónia, can you explain if your people there, at least, really think they have ancient macedonian roots?

Only certain percent of the population believe in that, let's say about 30-40% of the the total population. But those 30-40% are strong supporters of the current nationalistic government that uses their emotions and believes in order to score some political points among them and to keep itself into power.

There is ongoing construction project called "Skopje 2014" which purpose is to change the architectural history of the city by building neoclassical and baroque buildings, and by changing the facades of the already existing buildings into neoclassical and baroque style. Also, many squares were built in the recent 5 years with ancient themes and statues in order to strength the nationalistic (ancient) feelings among the populations.

There is a strong fighting between the government and the opposition about this issue, and so far the government is winning.

I will try in the next days to present you the project "Skopje 2014" in order for you to see the scale of this massive and expensive "face-lifting" of my hometown.

Okay, in order to understand the project "Skopje 2014", first you must to watch this short video presentation in which are shown most of the buildings, parks and statues of this project.
