At times it feels like the only game in town for the development of Middlehaven. I think it's the financial situation that has always sounded suspect. Fingers crossed for meaningful progress. I'd love to see a more broad-based approach to the development with risks spread.

What's everyone's thoughts on the current status of Sub Zero? I find it difficult that they're preventing the change of use of the Sainsbury site (as I think we've got to call it) without mobilising to site themselves.

This project is beginning to look like anything other than a private enterprise..

The local authorities seem determind for Sub Zero to become a reality, but I don't see how it willl ever get off the ground without private investment, which those behind the plan appear to lack.

They've other mayoral candidates commenting too despite the sub-headline:

Despite the assurances I just have an uneasy feeling about this one. I hope I'm wrong. We're all desperate for this to succeed and I just hope this isn't clouding judgements.

It would be fantastic for us if the developer can secure funding.

I think its good that local politicians are throwing their weight behind it, hopefully this can help push it forward...

Engineers begin ground survey work needed to draw up final designs for proposed snow centre

The site investigation is necessary in order for full planning permission to go in, and will cost around £70,000 to £100,000
