Is it just me, or is it so cool to see the city centre literally expanding?

It's better than buildings that just fill in gaps.

English Heritage and The Civic Society aren't pleased about it. What a shock.

I suppose they feel like they have to say something don't they. I can't see the need in this instance.

From what I've heard, the English Heritage and Civic Society are slowly being taken less and less seriously. This is due to multiple reasons such as the amount of developments they're wanting to be scaled back are hindering the cities progress, which is also stopping any new buildings allowing to become potential landmarks.

I think they do a vital job in trying to protect our built environment. Its not a very easy thing standing in the way of "so called progress" even when so much of this inevitiably turns out to be a step backward. It would be nice if there was a more joined up approach across the board but because planners are stretched, councilors are corrupt and developers are driven by profit so i feel these organisations end up constantly fighting rather than communicationg and pulling in the same direction. For me it generally comes down the quality of the building (something thats been missing in 90% of the development thats happened over the last 20 years)..

It would be great for a new employer to take it.
