35 Hudson Yards - E Tower

Quote:
Designed by classic New York architect David Childs of SOM, E Tower will be one of the most dynamic places to live in Hudson Yards. In addition to luxury residences, E Tower will feature a 200-room Luxury Hotel and a flagship Equinox Fitness Club. E Tower overlooks the Hudson River and grand Public Square. Sophisticated and elegantly designed, the building features a curtain wall made up of vertical stripes of limestone and glass and drapes from the top to the ground like a beautiful pleated skirt.
Quote:
1.1 million gross square foot mixed-use tower

1,000 feet tall

79 stories

21 floors of luxury for-sale residences

200-room Luxury Hotel with a Ballroom, Sky lobby, and Spa

Three level flagship Equinox Fitness Club featuring a basketball court and swimming pool

Multiple private terraces

24/7 concierge attended lobby

Located at the southeast corner of 11th Avenue and West 33rd Street
============================================================================================

A redesign with a height increase and an increase in floors has brought 35 HY into supertall status.

Funny thing. For the longest time my favorite was the corset but this tower has really grown on me as I had seen more renders. This now my favorite in Related's Hudson yards project. Just wish Related could just add 30-40ft more in height to make this a supertall.

thanks for starting this thread!

If you've got the time for it, this is an incredibly enlightening presentation by David Childs about the E Tower. Jump ahead to about the 13-minute mark if you wanna get right down to it. This is my favorite tower of the bunch primarily because of how it reacts to and engages with its surroundings (the "hinge" between the Hudson Park and Blvd, and the park stretching westward to the Hudson), and the uses of its many segments. Not to mention the genius cladding.

This tower gives me a "John Boehner" and a "Woodrow Wilson."

This beauty deserves to be supertall. Couldn't they please add 35 ft extra?

Personally I think this one's a bit too bottom heavy.

Related Cos. bathes Hudson Yards in Sunshine
http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article...ATE/131119888#

Quote:
Mega-developer The Related Cos. has partnered with Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group to promote and sell $5 billion worth of residential condominiums in upcoming Related projects. Among those will be condos that will be a part of the developer's mammoth Hudson Yards project west of Pennsylvania Station.
Quote:
Related and Corcoran Sunshine will collaborate on the sale of condos in two buildings, one of which will include a hotel, slated to be a part of the Hudson Yards project. They will also work on a batch of new luxury condo buildings elsewhere in the city, including 520 W. 28th St., an 11-story Chelsea building designed by Zaha Hadid.
The Equinox Tower will have the hotel. If they are starting to market this building, I expect construction to start for this tower sometime in 2014.

Man, I hope so. This is easily one of my favorite proposals anywhere in the world. I only wish they would build it higher (specifically the skinny upper portion).

Yup, it'll be an awesome place for a hotel. Though I hope the prices for staying in for a night or two won't be too much over the top (though I'm not counting on it )

A hotel at the most booming location of NY. Won't be cheap I think.

Gorgeous. Although I had hoped there would be a higher proportion of limestone to glass.

I agree with you, this building is rathe ugly in my opinion. The other Hudson Yards towers are better but they still are medicore in design. I just can't find anything aestheticaly good on this proposed complex
