I know the Sam's Club logo has been around for a lot longer than the Park Nicollet logo that came around in 2011 or whenever it was. I remember working at Sam's club back in the early 2000's when it first got rebranded.

Some new renderings of Lecesse's development on Snelling. They're basically replacing the second floor with parking instead of housing. 128 units vs. 155 previously.

A crane is up (again) at The Finn. The second phase of construction is up to the second floor already.

A little West Side Flats update. Found out Weidner Homes was purchasing more parcels around the area than just the vacant land to the south of Sherman's next WSF phase. They bought up all the land except for two city owned parcels used as parking along Robert Street. 700 housing units are planned.

*I don't think this is the final plan, just a representation of what it could look like. Though the Sherman properties are accurate.

The Central Station Development Guidelines recently went through the city's Comprehensive Planning Commission. Not sure when the block will go out for RFP, perhaps by the end of the year, but sometime in 2018 at the latest.

A link to the report.

yeah looks like that will look outdated fairly quickly.

They could have done a sleek stainless steel sign with a different signature font and smaller logo for the front main logos but who knows, maybe it'll be better in person/lighten up the area...

A couple more details about the proposed apartment building at Snelling.

http://www.twincities.com/2017/02/28...g-and-carroll/

"...The developer, Gaughan Cos., and the architect, BKV Group, have proposed parking on the first floor and underground, according to the district council.

The building at 304-308 N. Snelling Ave. would be four or five stories, stepping back toward Carroll Avenue..."

So for this treasure Island Center, is this going to be like a mini mall? I guess I didn't think too much about the floors below the rink. I know obviously that there's the brewery and police station and clinic committed, but what about all of the other space? Are they going to fill those 3 floors with a bunch of tenants and have walkways with escalators and such like a mall? It's quite a big building. Or did I hear most of that going to be parking?

I'd imagine you'll be able to walk around the lower three floors, keep in mind the lowest will be on the Cedar St side. You should be able to walk around like any other skyway connected building. I think almost half of the interior, the eastern side is parking. Not a great project by any means. But I will appreciate having a nicer Walgreens, a couple more eating establishments. The rink, if it gets as used as they say it will, will be very welcome. Sounds like a lot of teams, clubs, and schools should be making a lot of use of it. Hopefully it will generate a lot of foot traffic.

Also, the exterior will be getting a 300 foot long mural on the 6th and Cedar side. A cheap way to cover the blank walls I guess. Better than nothing I suppose.

The mural should be pretty neat, but they should have had it just wrap around with glass. Those panels look like they come off pretty quick n easy

I thought there was a fairly large number of parking stalls inside also? I could be wrong but I thought they filled up a good portion of the building.

I have to say I like the idea of massing most of the building on the one corner with a skyway connection over the tracks. Several of the other ideas were there was more building mass over the tracks looked too busy or too much in my opinion. What would be nice is if there was a way to cover the area over the tracks with a large arched/curved glass roof that covered from 4/Minnesota over the tracks to 5/Cedar side. Buildings on either side and have the glass illuminated with LEDs or other lighting. St Paul could have a mini version of Fremont Street but that would probably not be the right direction to take if they covered the entire transit area.

Interesting. Nick Halter tweeted there are five groups that submitted offers. Really hoping it will stay office space.

*Paywalled.
