The Treasure Island Center has some signage variances making its way through at the moment. What's noteworthy is in the application it mentions the owners of the parking lot on Wabasha St where the skyway to nowhere was located, that they are in discussions about redevelopment opportunities. Also the Grace Building, where Walgreens is currently located, may redevelop according to the owner.

The HRA will be voting to give Schafer Richardson developer rights to the vacant land on Payne Ave near Ward 6 restaurant. Plans are for a four story building with 97 units and 7,500 sq ft of commercial space. Total development cost is $17.45 million.

I hadn't noticed until now, but there are two cranes by the Wilson Ridge apartment site. The building is already up to the third story.

Treasure Island Center progress.

I guess the garage ramp will be kept in place, correct? It always made for a poor walking experience on that block.

Heck they're keeping the parking open while they're doing the construction.

Maybe with this practice center the Wild will be able to make it past the first round.

If I remember correctly looking at the plans the ramp takes up about half the buildings interior. All the retails spaces and everything else are on the exterior wrapping the ramp space.

Sorry I meant the ramp leading up to the garage on the 6th St side of the building. I was hoping they would be able to reconfigure it somehow to improve pedestrian facilities there.

Interior demolition is well under way at 428 Minnesota (former Woolworths Building) in downtown.

Here's a look at the 300 foot mural planned for the Treasure Island Center.

That's nice, but I do wish they would wrap the whole building in that glass. I feel this will still feel outdated and sad on this side.

They should have just continued that angled up atrium on the rink level to this side...or will they? Not sure how they would end that feature otherwise...

That's a low budget production right there

If you don't want to be a bedroom community don't put up Fathead-looking murals on your buildings.

May 9th, the new proposed hotel at 7th and Jackson goes before the city's site plan review. It will have 185 rooms. Wouldn't be surprised if this breaks ground by the end of the year. Raymond Management Company (WI based) appears to be the developer, or co-developer with PAK Properties.

Nice to see some new apartment construction on the east side.

The Jackson St reconstruction update states that utility connections for "the hotel" were completed this week, so this project is definitely on track to commence sooner rather than later.

I'm surprised F&C and BizJ haven't picked up on it yet. It's not like St. Paul has 10 story hotel proposals dropping left and right.

Sadly looking through the developer's portfolio doesn't scream high quality design. Lots of "meh" looking buildings. Still, the intersection at 7th and Jackson is a pretty barren corner of downtown. So seeing any kind of infill here is a good sign.

I hope this will lead to PAK developing the big lot behind the Rossmor, or MN Mutual/Securian selling/developing the SE corner at 7th/Jackson.

St. Paul: Fillmore West would bring up to 830 apartments to West Side

"Five square blocks of real estate construction is coming to St. Paul’s West Side.

South of downtown St. Paul, a developer is planning to begin construction this year on the Fillmore West Apartments, a complex expected to have between 640 to 830 apartments near the Mississippi River west of Robert Street.

Jim Hunt and Hunt Development plan multiple phases of construction on a mostly vacant 13.4-acre site between Fillmore Avenue and Plato Boulevard, including 30,000 to 80,000 square feet of commercial space..."

"...the first block of development likely will entail 120 to 150 units built over 127 secure, ground-level parking stalls..."
