Talking about White City Retail Park, Natuzzi are currently advertising vacancies for a new store due to open soon at the Retail Park.

https://www.indeed.co.uk/viewjob?cmp...ew+store&vjs=3

I imagine this will mean that the existing Natuzzi store at Barton Square at the Trafford Centre will be closing/relocating to White City?

Bookies

Jennings bet at 51 Piccadilly looks to have closed down. It’s still on their website but all signage has gone.

The unit on Bridge st that had a large “Ladbrokes coming soon” sign above, this has now gone, so guessing they’re not opening there anymore.

Bet Fred at the corner of Cross st and John Dalton st is closing down. Spotted a sign from bus but couldn’t see the date it’s due to close.

Surprised it’s taken so long for bookies to close, with the fact it’s another industry which seems to have almost been replaced by electronic , personal options such as mobiles.

They only exist in physical form for the fixed odds betting terminals.

I think this unit was due to close as part of the redevelopment of Gardens Hotel into Hotel Indigo, along with the extension/new build at the back too?

This unit has been back on the market for quite a few months now so yes Ladbroke will not be opening there.

Food Warehouse and O2 coming to Walkden Retail Centre.

https://www.businessupnorth.co.uk/fo...-retail-parks/

The O2 one is interesting as this is in the vicinity of the supposedly planned redevelopment...

The hoardings have come down around the new Carhartt unit on the corner of Hilton Street/Oldham Street, a great improvement to the street this.

Looks like it's still a week or so off opening.

Rochdale and Bolton town centres have been added to the list of Town Centres that can access the Government's £1bn High Street fund.

Other towns in Greater Manchester already on the list are :-
Farnworth,
Stretford,
Oldham,
Stockport,
Wigan.

Furniture store takes space at White City

2 Sep 2019, 10:48

Natuzzi, advised by Savills, has agreed a 10-year lease on a 7,500 sq ft store at White City Retail Park in Manchester.

The park is owned by The Derwent Group.

Founded in Italy almost 60 years ago, Natuzzi is a large designer furniture retailer, with products distributed in the UK, Europe, US, Asia, UAE and Australia.

The retailer is set to move into Unit 9 and will trade as Natuzzi Editions. The store will become Natuzzi’s 17th standalone store in the UK.

White City Retail Park is located on Chester Road, three miles from Manchester city centre. Occupiers include Furniture Village, SCS, Sofology and Oak Furnitureland as well as Costa, Aldi, Home Bargains and an M&S Foodhall.

Catherine Barnard, associate in the retail team at Savills, said: “Natuzzi are already familiar with Manchester with their Natuzzi Italia store at Barton Square having been open for 12 years, and it’s great to have acquired this second store for them to showcase the Natuzzi Editions brand. White City is the prime furniture destination for the city and the store is a fantastic addition to Natuzzi’s growing portfolio. We look forward to continuing to work with them on future acquisitions.”

The Derwent Group was represented by Cheetham & Mortimer

I have to say I’m worried at the impact this will have on traffic. The moving of the entrance to Daveyhulme WwTW from Rivers Lane to the other side of the M60 has helped to an extent, but with the main part of the retail park now fully occupied, it can be a real grid-lock around there at times.

I’m also worried at the impact having a Starbucks drive-through directly on my commute will have on my wallet…
Work looks to be starting - hoardings/barriers up....
