Indeed this vehicle was built by an Australian wheelchair accessible vehicle manufacturer (FlashCab). It's still the best selling wheelchair accessible vehicle in Australia. Hundreds of Taxi conversions have been sold and there are many private users who prefer those vehicles.

some taxis in Minneapolis

While most of the taxis are retire police cruisers, I have seen Yaris's, Pt Cruisers, and many others

it's ugly as ****... around here, the closest thing to that are Ford E-series vans with a really high top and big doors in the back to allow for the wheelchair lift gadget. They're ugly, but nowhere near as ugly as those. (City buses all have wheelchair lifts built-in to the main front door, so they're a lot more subtle with their wheelchair accessibility.

No doubt they are butt ugly (refer to the rear end of the vehicle) They say they're still popular here but I've only seen 2 in my history. But rest assured the majority of wheelchair accessable taxis are vans.

that's hilarious! My hometown - alexandria, egypt - uses an identical colour scheme, though the quality of taxi is on average far worse lol - here is an example of an originally dutch one seemingly which has it appears been 'colonised' by the driver

each egyptian city has its own colour scheme for the squares

Taxi's in the Netherlands

It's the most expensive way to travel in the Netherlands! Starting tarif is €7.50. KM-tarif €2.20

Taxidrivers are single entrepeneurs, the taxicar is their own car.

On the top roof you see names: The drivers are members of different taxi-organisations. On left you see 'TCA' (Taxi Centrale A'dam) that means they have exclusive right in and around Amsterdam. At the right you see 'Schiphol' they have exclusive rights for Schiphol. So taxi's from other organization are prohibit to pick-up customers at Schiphol. The drivers own the taxi car and they pay a contribution to the organization.

No cars are quit expenisive for normal people. But if you are an entrepreneur or you have a own buisiness in the Netherlands, you have to pay lower tax on goods, 6% instead of 19%. And for example an taxi entrepeneur don't have to pay VAT on his new vehicle. And also a taxidriver don't have to pay roadtax.

Just what I mention early before. The starting tarif is Euro 7,50 and 2,20 per KM. So 4 KM taxiride is like around 16,00 Euro's for what 7 min driving? So be an taxidriver is a lucrative job in the Netherlands.

And how more luxery the taxi-vehicle is, how higher the Class-rate of the taxidriver. If you order a cab via the phone. The callcenter will contact first a A-Class taxi (Mercedes E, BMW 5, Audi A6, Chrysler 500, etc) and then a B-Class taxidriver with his Mazda, Opel or whatever, but mostly these are drivers, that just started to be an taxidriver.

I think the main reason is that Mercedes has (or at least had) an excellent image among taxi operators in terms of comfort, reliability (most important) and cost-effectiveness (for its diesel engines). At least the elder models are virtually indestructible.

All this taxis are amazing and looks like they are just made for rich peoples as they all provides luxurious facilities. I think such type of services will be loved by everyone as well all will prefer to go with taxi rather than going for any other transportation.
