35 Kenny St is the closest crane in my shot above.

Also, preserving sight lines from a small patch of grass on Flagstaff Hill to the line of the escarpment is a ridiculous concept.

Some new stuff:

9-11 Park Street:

2 Market Street:

2 Blacket Street:

Remember this?

Well... that was rejected, now we have this:

Why? Because of the architectural lift overrun of less than a metre above the height limit and it being uncharacteristic to the area...

They're a little bit bland, aren't they? No wonder, it seems if a developer tries to do anything different in Wollongong it's immediately rejected.

In other news, 9 Crown Lane has been sold, hopefully construction can start soon.

Oscars Hotels named successful bidder for the accommodation hotel at The Waterfront, Shell Cove

The hospitality group which runs the Novotel Northbeach and Towradgi Beach Hotel will own and operate the new hotel complex at The Waterfront, Shell Cove.

Oscars Hotels has been named the successful bidder for the accommodation hotel, the plans for which include pools, bars, restaurants and communal spaces.

The as-yet-unnamed, $70 million to $80 million hotel will be located on the harbour edge, and include 117 rooms, 32 serviced apartments and 42 residential apartments over 11 levels.

Pending DA approval next year, Bill Gravanis, managing director at Oscars Hotels said they were hoping construction would start in October 2020.

He estimated construction would take 18-20 months, with a view to be up and running before Christmas 2022.

The hotel will include two pools, including one for hotel guests on level five of the complex, and another pool for residents at the very top of the complex on level 11.

It will also include a gym, sauna, ballroom/conference facility for up to 300 guests as well as three restaurants. A recreation deck on level two will provide an open, communal space.

Developers unveil plans for Dapto's first high-rise unit block

Dapto could soon have its very first high-rise apartment building, with developers unveiling plans to dramatically transform the town centre.

In a plan lodged late last year with Wollongong City Council, developer P Hadley Holdings has proposed to redevelop the old Dapto Hotel site on the Princes Highway.

The existing structures at 98-110 Princes Highway, except for the heritage hotel, would be razed to make way for two nine-storey apartment towers.

The demolition site includes shops, restaurants and cafes on the highway.

If approved, the new buildings would house 52-apartments and three commercial premises, with parking over three levels for 120 cars.

The new block would be located next to Aldi with parts of the complex facing Osborne Street and Bong Bong Road.

I can hear the NIMBYs already.

^Most of the article's facebook comments are from outraged residents who think the pub is closing .

Also you left out the most interesting picture. A potential future Dapto:

When GPT were building the west Keira St site of Wgong Central, there was, I think, a phase 2 and 3 concept for 2 towers to be built on top. Is this likely to happen in the near future?

West Keira has been designed to accommodate them, but GPT did try and fail to sell the mall a couple of years ago using the potential towers as an incentive, so I don't know how committed they are to them themselves.

I do recall that, not long after West Keira was finished, there were media reports that the University were interested in using both proposed towers for student accommodation (the original intention was for a residential tower on the south-west corner and a commercial tower on the north-east corner). Since those initial reports I've heard nothing further.

He he. Yeah Wollongong needs a supertall.

In the 80's I used to visit the Gong several times a year to see relatives. Back then the tallest building was the hospital I would be told.

As bad as Newcastle I used to think.
