Some pics from a tour of Løren, first good look at the area I've had. Positively surprised by the quality and greenery in between the buildings, while the urban morphology is somewhat lacking, it's still dense enough to give a nice urban feel in some places. Most disappointing is the area closest to the metro station.

Crossing Dag Hammarskjolds vei towards Peter Møllers vei

Parallell creates an imposing end wall in Lørenveien, giving it a nice room feel. It could be utilized a lot more though. There's density, but a lot more could be done to create street life. Too many closed facades and when building this densely, why not go all the way and create a properly urban morphology with closed blocks?

I like these bricks. Something like this would be much better at Ensjø torg, rather than the yellow 70s kommunehus-colour.

Looking towards Krydderhagen from Lørenveien

Krydderhagen - no attempts at street life and probably not the place for it, single buildings all the way, but the material quality and the landscaping is very nice. And look it's possible to have good looking balconies.

The biggest crime IMO is that they have not planted any street trees. There's a lone ash there, but I don't think it was planted.

Looks really nice! I guess that is the "Bavaria"-plot.

There is a plan for developing the block at Økernveien 94 as well. This block on the other side of the street from Hasle Torg:

Overall plan:

The above posted Hasle T project has been killed by PBE.

https://www.estatenyheter.no/2019/11...stad-prosjekt/

Quote:

And same destiny for the high rise and on-fill project at fyrstikktorget: https://www.estatenyheter.no/2019/11...tive-holdning/

I guess anyone hoping for a new tune from PBE with new leadership will have to recalibrate their expectations..

Obviously it's a good thing that PBE starts planning ahead for park&recreational areas in Hovinbyen, though I feel like they're still doing some wrong calls in how they're implementing the plans. They're not doing this in a manner that is predictable to any party involved, certainly not to the developers involved.

Not as active as I used to be, here's a photo of the Løren/Hasle skyline of January 2020 in crappy cell phone quality:

Økern Portal can be seen on the right. I believe the crane on the left belongs to the new hotel being built at Hasle.
