Merong ongoing / recent discussions about the RROW especially in Lipa/Tanauan sa Batangas City Regional Thread.

does the government still even owns all of that ROW? mas marami yung malapit sa mga city like Lipa, Tanauan pero yung ibang medyo clear pa rin. I think kaya pa rin yun malinis para ma revive ang Batangas line unless ibahin nila ROW.

sobrang laking tulong nyan kapag nagawa maraming taga Batangas pwede mag work sa NCR tapos dyan lang sakay. seamless din freight from Batangas port up to Manila at mga numerous industrial parks along the way para bawas truck sa kalsada.

All RROW not given titles are still owned by the State thru PNR.

That upcoming Department of Urban Housing and Settlements needs to massively change NHA mindset and culture in relocating skwatings in the provinces with single detached units ala Villar Camella Homes - we need to have in-city relocationm tenement style.

Sana si JV eh ma-appoint dito next year if he's interested to still serve in gov't albeit in a executive capacity.

Any relevant news on PNR south line from tutuban to Calamba? And the long haul line from Calamba to Bicol? Mukhang hindi priority ang south rail unlike the north rail.

Understandable na focus ay MLN (due to NCC).

IIRC:

MLS:
- Tutuban to Calamba: Japan ODA, advanced stage of negotiations already though no signed loan agreement yet.

-Calamba-to Bicol w/ ultimate wet dream aka Matnog extension: This is being considered to be funded by Chinese ODA but in preliminary stages of negotiation (read: will take a considerable amount of time).

Magkano ba ang total cost neto? Hindi ba kaya pondohan ng GAA, kahit per phase ang implmentation?

The project is very complex as it support these tech specs.

1. 160kph is the max line speed means curve radius will be modified so well (more row and tunnel)to allow this.

2. Passenger and Freight Service.. need to extend to port.

3. Will run on archpelago.
You know wat that means.

i am still interested in High Speed Rail as a potential commuter/passenger..north to south luzon..350km/h+..this is the only logical cheap fast mass transportation..open your minds..and speak more about this..maybe they will listen..

the current standard for rail is..slow trains=cargo
fast trains=passenger/commuters

what is the compromise here? they just want to build..

HSR is not cheap even the fares. Unless the ROW are composed of manufacturing and business hubs. Lucena, Legaspi and Naga need to be big as Metro Manila in terms of economic output to make this HSR feasible.

Oversight hearing tackles DOTr expenditures and performance
DOTr Undersecretary Timothy John Batan explained there are three China ODA (official development assistance) funded projects: Subic-Clark Railway; Philippine National Railways (PNR) Bicol or the South Line or South Long Haul Project; and the Mindanao Railway Phase 1 as well as the eventual future phases of Mindanao Railway.

He said the most advanced among these projects in terms of loan negotiations is the PNR Bicol.

Replying to Sandoval’s question as to how long will the travel time be from Manila to Legaspi, Batan said that when they were doing their investment approval process with NEDA, the travel time originally was to bring it to under six hours.

Batan said that based on the recent submissions of the project management consultant, which is again subject to ongoing design calculations, they are able to bring it down even further. “The numbers that we are seeing now is that we can reach below five hours"he said.

Batan said the traditional, the legacy alignment of the PNR, has been a little curvy in some areas.

Separate ang system ng Calamba Clark Commuter and they will go elevated while the PNR Bicol will be at grade but grade separated on roads crossings. PNR Bicol will be at land embankment while Calamba Clark will be mostly viaduct. The profile of of this two projects together is best explained in the PNR Bidding Document of PMC.

PNR South Long Distance Project or locally known as "Bicol Express" traverses the province of Bicol where passengers will have the majestic view of the iconic, perfectly shaped cone volcano - Mount Mayon.

Future Mock Up

The rolling stock will be bid out to Chinese manufacturers later this year which will take inspiration from Mount Mayon.

Maganda naman yung tren.

On another note, ano ang speed ng South Long Haul? I'm guessing anywhere near 150 or 160 should do the trick.
