LRT4 Ortigas傍aytay LRT Line | Length: 19km| 6 Stations

Gov稚 readies P1-T railway projects

Quote:
The Duterte administration has unveiled a P1-trillion nationwide pipeline of railway projects, most of which will be located in Luzon and Metro Manila where traffic congestion was at its worst, apart from urban centers in Cebu and Mindanao.

The administration also committed to 途edouble infrastructure improvement such that the government plans to roll out five more road maps aimed at sustaining economic development, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia said Wednesday.

The plan was included in the Department of Transportation痴 (DOTr) detailed submission to Sen. Grace Poe, who is heading the committee on public services, in line with the government痴 request for special powers to combat the traffic crisis in the capital district.

All told, 14 train projects valued at P1.07 trillion were named in the 64-page document.

New projects in Luzon were the LRT Line 4, a 19-km line from Taytay in Rizal to Ortigas Avenue; LRT Line 6, a 19-km train from Niyog in Cavite to Dasmarias also in Cavite; the 35-km PNR North Commuter line from Tutuban to Malolos, Bulacan; and another 55-km PNR North extension from Malolos to Clark, Pampanga.

There was also a PNR South Line running 72-km from Tutuban to Los Baos, Laguna, as well as the LRT-2 East and West extension lines.

This is... assuming the emergency powers are given. It's like they're saying that without it, it would become like what happened with major infra projects of PNoy.. lots of delays.

Okay, during PNoy's term, we normally don't allow threads of proposed rail projects to have its own thread until the contract has been awarded. But we have a *new* administration and given we already broke this rule for the JICA Subway and cable cars, unless other mods disagree with me, I will let this thread continue.

Keep in mind this thread will be dormant for the next few months so don't expect a lot of news or updates,,,

I guess this project will supersede the planned Mandaluyong AGT line then?

Now I wonder if it will follow the Boni or Shaw Boulevard alignment when it passes through Mandaluyong.

Will this be a full metro like the LRT 2 or a light rail like the LRT 1?

To be honest, that is actually up in the air. The original JICA proposal was for this to be an AGT, similar to the rapid transit in Hiroshima, Japan....

From Wikipedia

But is has been heavily implied by NEDA and Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya's DOTC that it be a conventional LRT, presumably similar to LRT1. I recall Mandaluyong City was furious because they were the original proponents, wanted AGT and LRT4 was suppose to traverse Shaw until Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya insisted on the continuing Ortigas Avenue alignment.

Had the Mandaluyong City plan push through, LRT4 would turn at ADB Avenue and right at Shaw, giving opportunities to have rail stations inside the Ortigas CBD, including that dreadful SM Megamall, the biggest traffic generator in the area!

wow that plan looks really good as it is more extensive and covers a lot of areas. Any idea why Abaya didn't approve that plan instead?

The fact that the plan looks really good as it is more extensive and covers a lot of areas ARE EXACTLY WHY Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya DID NOT approve of it!

Having a train line in Ortigas Ave would greatly boost the price of real estate. Even though majority of the residents there are car-centric.

Elitista/Oligarchs...remember?

No kidding, eh? I doubt those La Sallites who cause havoc in Ortigas Avenue will give up their Montero Sports, Fortuners, Starex, MUX, CRVs, Hi-Ace, Foresters, etc for a transit pass in a really cool elevated railway anytime soon...

I have said before that future rapid transit lines in Metro Manila must be heavy rail.

There will be commuters from The Cainta / Taytay / Angono and even Antipolo which is high.

Di pa ba sila natuto sa LRT-1 at MRT-3?!

Di ba nila alam na karamihan ng sumasakay sa MRT-3 ay galing rin ng Camanava, Farview, Bulacan, Rizal, Antipolo?

I've said it before that those in government, urban planning and even Filipinos as a whole should have a small lecture and awareness on the difference between light rail and heavy metro.

Seems like people here view an elevated rapid transit network as light rail even that of line-2.

Pareho may kailangan. Main thoroughfare parin ang Marcos Highway.
