Sorry medyo tangang tanong lang, anong meaning nito? Like hanggang LB lang yung EMU? and the rest, DMU na? So saan yung ruta nung EMU na ipo-procure?

180km Los Banos - Manila - Clark

There's allotment for diesel locomotive to go on this leg I think, but EMU can't go any further if they have no plans to electrify farther than this route.

Department of Transportation
DOTr to Sign MOA for Resettlement of 100,000 Informal Settler Families Along PNR South Project
Quote:
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is set to sign a memorandum of agreement (MOA) today, 8 December 2017, for the resettlement of around 100,000 informal settler families (ISFs) who would be affected by the North-South Railway Project (NSRP) slated to start early next year.
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, together with officials of the Philippine National Raiways (PNR), would ink the MOA with Presidential Commission on Urban Poor (PCUP) Chairperson James Mark Terry Ridon, National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Marcelino Escalada Jr., Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) President Arnolfo Ricardo Cabling, and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) Chairman Eduardo del Rosario.
The NSRP, also known as the PNR South Long Haul, is a 653-kilometer railway project that will run from Manila to Batangas, Laguna, Bicol, and Sorsogon.
The railway project for commuter and freight system will provide interconnectivity and better alternative mode of transport from Manila to Bicol Region and vice versa. Its construction will start in 2018.
Under the MOA, government agencies will agree to perform the resettlement activities and social preparation, providing the ISFs affected by the railway project with affordable housing programs.
In November 15, 2017, Secretary Tugade, along with other Cabinet Secretaries, joined President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang during the signing of 14 agreements, following the expanded bilateral meeting between the two countries.
One of the signed agreements was the Memorandum of Understanding on Jointly Promoting the PNR South Long Haul Project Cooperation between DOTr and the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.
The PNR South Long Haul is expected to be operational by 2nd quarter of 2022.
Based on recent changes, its Commuter Line segment which spans 72 kilometers with 23 stations, will now start from Solis-Hermosa in Manila to Los Baņos, Laguna.
Meanwhile, the Long Haul segment will start from Los Banos and will run through Batangas, Quezon and the Bicol provinces of Camarines Sur and Albay to Sorsogon.####DOTrPH

Bicol Express lang ba talaga? Kaya 9 stations lang? Wala yung regular trips for short distance passengers? Walang flag stops?

So if i'm going to Pili, Camarines Sur coming from neighboring city of Naga, there's no way I can ride it since Pili is most likely gonna be mere flagstop and the next major station up would be Daet in Camarines Norte?

Same with Calamba and Los Baņos, one would be a major stop (i'm assuming LB which makes Calamba minor). So to go to Calamba from Manila i need to go all the way to LB and then ride a jeep back up north to Calamba?

so express trips lang talaga, walang regular trips?

PNR North-South Commuter EMU (JICA) will stop in Calamba and end at Los Banos, then you will switch to diesel.

There is supposed to be a branch line to Batangas in original plans, no recent news though.

I think it's gonna be easier to remove and relocate illegal settlers and use the existing PNR row than buy an entirely new different ROW.

The Arroyo admin was able to remove IS along d riles sa Metro Manila pa to where Illegal settlers are malupit pa sa kapit-tuko. I am under the impression that IS in the provinces will be relatively easier to relocate.

The Malolos to Clark route na sana yung pinaguusapan natin ngayon, tsk tsk.

Jica Officials Spotted Today Dec. 16, 2017 Along the Railroad Tracks at IRRI-Los Banos. They are in a convoy of Innova's with Marked JICA on the vehicles Front windshield... This means that they already doing an inspection probably for the Los Banos to Bicol section of PNR South Project.. (This is Real proof enough that the Project is moving forward.. )
..( Please click on the Image to enlarge )...

I hope UP-LB starts offering Railway Engineering and related courses. This is gonna be a good exposure for students while it is being constructed. As a research university, the UP system should create a Center for Railway Studies, Research and Development since nandon din yung depot.

Graduates will be the feeders or future PNR employees and other mass rail system.

I agree. Bebenta lang yan Railway Engineering ng PUP kung may pinoy company that manufactures trains here. Since PUP is a technical university it should go hand in hand with a research and development type of railway studies and UP as research university is the proper institution for such.

Government needs to re-introduce this especially now that there are tons of railway projects ongoing. Kahit sa TESDA nila ibalik Ironic that PUP let go of it's Railway Engg course when PUP is located along PNR tracks. Maybe nobody took it kase kulang sa pagmamarket sa course (?) Nakaka wet dreams lang yung magkakaron ang gobyerno ng sariling Railway Maintenance Agency with local, fresh grads of Railway Engg
