Perhaps ur previous idea does work. Just build the HSR from Singapore to KL and extend it all the way up to Genting !!

But for me I think hilly ride is always dangerous...not just in Malaysia. It happened in Taiwan, China and anywhere else too..And sad to see the number of casualties involved.

I have taken this train to Kleine Scheidegg in Switzerland.. rail is the way to go... I dislike genting cable car coz got long queue and is slow. Swiss trains got high capacity and no queue even at peak season and you get to relax and enjoy beautiful scenery.

Genting bus involved in the incident was in bad condition.
ironically the owner of Genting is the richest man in Malaysia....
victims family should sue Genting.

To be honest genting has nothing to do with the incident
I believe it's the bus problem or driver problem

Yeap....like all have said, the bus company is not under Genting group. This is a freak accident and looking at the roads up and down Genting, I believe Genting group have spend a huge amount of money into the safety and engineering of the roads. Many of you have no idea that going up Genting used to be a two-lane road from Genting Sempah after the tunnel. It had evolved to today's road which is magnificent.

For a maountain resort with such short and steep climb, I think they have some of the better road system in the world. Looking at the statistics, and with the amount of vehicles (private. buses and even construction ones), the track record had been good.

BTW the richest man in Malaysia is Robert Kwok.

The Swiss ones if I am not mistaken is self-powered....meaning the trains have its own engine just like a regular train.

The Bukit Bendera train is a Funicular Train which is pulled by cables. Actually furnicular trains are not bad too and they go very fast (the modern ones like Bkt Bendera). It is also Swiss technology

Perhaps should build a funicular railway up. Much safer, faster and makes the peak less congested.
